how did everyone fare? I did ok just lost most of the shingles on our roof. Dad went back to Kemah today and took my bobcat to power grandma's house, she didn't get any water and was only 4 block from the boardwalk.

the shop weathered the storm but a lot Of my trees didn't. Considering what I saw around me I was pretty lucky. From the looks of the line of trees down between me and Colter's place it looks like a tornado crossed a out 100 feet from the front of the barn. I just got. My phone back and won't have power for a week. Oh well.

On Time 09-16-2008 11:21 AM

Not good for us. 6 trees down one on the master with smashed roof and leaking water on both floors with walkway to boat dock uprooted and 6' in the air and now my beautiful lake house is phucked.

BY U BOY 09-16-2008 11:37 AM

Hey Frank our lake house is phucked. Fountain is OK with minor damage caused when shed doors blew off. Walden says we had sustained 90 mph winds for 2-3 hours as eye passed. Many torn up docks and sunken boats some in front of my house. 10' waves witnessed on Lake Conroe.

bigandy 09-16-2008 06:45 PM

WOW!! the neighbors trampoline took out my fence but fortunately that was it... feel lucky that the houseboat rode out the storm with no problem!!! glad everyone is ok. I have heard that some houses have been broken into, people stteling gas and a stabbing last night in walden not to mention the liquor store on 105 got looted on monday during the day!!!!

Power out more than a week I'll bet.

jeff1000man 09-17-2008 01:55 PM

I have found a super secret WIFI spot so I am back online. Roughing it in diamondhead is taking on a whole new meaning. No Plumbing since the night of the storm. Generators are cranking and owning powerboats full of gas is paying off.

By the way steak night was good at eldo's last night.

kfvintx 09-17-2008 03:36 PM

I'm waiting for more of you Conroe guys to get back online and start reporting how the lake looks. I heard it took quite a beating. How do the marinas look -- April Plaza, Inland, Lakeview? What about Papa's and Sam's? Any idea on when the lake will be ready for use again?

I'm in the Cypress area and we came out of this one pretty good. Let me know if anyone needs anything. I'm kinda new around here but willing to help.

Kenny

April Plaza is closed until further notice. Lakeview took a pretty good beating, but the power is on over there now, so I guess we will see. Power is on a PAPPAS. Power stops just before IHOP, so we will have to see.

I have some pics I can post later of some of the marina damage.

kfvintx 09-17-2008 06:18 PM

I heard docks at April Plaza are pretty torn up. Makes me wonder what they will do because they wre already in bad shape. Maybe they have insurance and will come in and rebuild. I always liked putting in there because of location and setup but sounds like I might need to find a new place for whenever Conroe is ready.

Any word if the dam got damaged or if they have to lower the lake to inspect? I guess I need to drive up and take a look around but I don't want to be in the way either.

I posted some pics from Ike that I took from around me in the General Boating Discussion "God bless Texas...Ike is coming". Tommy

All is well.

We have only minor damage to our house, but no flood water or missing shingles.
Our pier is missing a section, the deck steps are laying in the back yard, 3 cedar trees are down, and the power lines to house are down. The trees are already cut-up and out of the yard.
One of our neighbors lost almost all of his trees and the other side neighbor has trees down and their pier alongside their house: see photos.
John

PS: Tommy.... so sorry to read about your house and glad you have the RV.

I looked it up earlier today, pretty much what I got out of it is if you have a full time job they ain't payin, I know if you and spouse have combined income of 90k or more they won't pay, not to mention what they pay is a sliding scale... best bet is for you to get subsistence spending money that they offer for missing work or damage to your property, but on that not if you have insurance they really don't cover it either. from looks of it the freeloaders of katrina really broke the bank and ruined it by completely taking advantage of it. Theres some people in april sound and del lago that really need the help and I am not sure they can qualify, is a really sad situatiobn for some.

was it really that bad??? I saw it from the front 2 days ago, didn't think it was damaged at all, but maybe I didn't look that close

sewar backed up through the showers and toilets and got under my wood floors and into the walls pretty bad. Floor is ruined 2/3 of the way through the house and the walls will have to be cut up on 2-3 of the rooms for cleaning.

I'll get around to it eventually.

ABout a 15K job IF I don't have to take out the shower.

I am having the plumber come put in a secret weapon in my main drain so that if those azzhole neighbors pull that chit again they are going to get a surprise.:hitfan:

nothing like a one way check valve... maybe your neighborhood will get on the band wagon and put a generator on your water system

Doubt it. With the exception of them not being able to flush, they didn't have any problems. I am low guy on the system so I get it all.

They all talk big chit about the generator until they see what the bill is. I will put in my check valve and then not worry about it.
