I really like my 3500HD. I did have an injector issue and had them all replaced by the dealer. The ride was better than the Ford and Dodge. I pull a 25 foot Sea Ray Sundancer and you dont even know its behind you.

I am not biased to either brand. I think both trucks are very good trucks. Rule 1, don't buy first year motors. Both engines have their share of problems. I feel that Rippem is biased in his facts but thats ok. Be proud of what you have. Chevy has come a long way on their pick ups but I feel that Ford sells so many more trucks that they are able to give better deals on their trucks.
I tow #18,000 with my Ford 350 crew cab DRW 5th wheel with no problems. That is right at the limit of the 350 towing capacity. I can't wait see the new power plants that are coming out.

whats the deal with the new diesels coming out, whats the "pumped up" d-max going to offer, is it worth getting the new d-max or playing it safe with the old one?

Well I picked the Ford. Like Mark Smith said I am not really biased either. As for power they all have a lot. What I did was write down what I wanted in a truck and then picked the one that fit that the best. Price wasn't an issue as I have connections at both dealers. I wanted the biggest interior room, solid axel, most fuel, 4x4, auto diesel, and the best towing options. Ford won. They have the towboss package which comes with 4.30 gears...raised gvwr at something like 18,000....I feel the most room too.
Both are good trucks and yes the ford did have some issues with the first 6.0 but everyone does. The failure rate is the same as the d-max i believe; it is just ford sells more so there are more to fail. ie failure rate of 1% if you sell 100 thats 1 truck if you sell 200 thats 2. Sell double what chevy does and that looks like it is a bunch. not sure if that is true, just read something about that.
I say drive both, pick what you want and you will be happy. Heck either way you go you will be happy, both trucks are mosnsters. Add some power upgrades and you don't need to wait. I would be conserned about a first year anything.
By they way my ford only has 10,000 miles on it, but almost all with banks big hoss, and (knocking on wood) no problems to date...I know plenty of fords like this...Also know my share of d-maxs with power upgrades and no problems either....
