Now we're getting somewhere! People who have towed with the truck I was asking about! Thanks a million for redirecting the thread to something constructive.

the hitch is the factory unit -- pretty beefy.

why does chevy add a 2.5" hitch? i haven't seen a hitch that fits in that reciever without adding the 2" insert.

Reese has a 2.5 size hitch and a couple other hitch makers out there, just rare to see them in the stores have to go to a trailer shop"here anyways" to get them.

So for a 2.5" receiver you have to basically special order a 2.5" hitch?

No just goto a good trailer shop/dealer or hitch shop, walmarts and stuff wont have them "ours dont", they are starting to get more popular now than they were before.

is the pintle hook welded to a solid steel shaft to insert into the receiver so that you can use the receiver for trailers other than the pintle? Do you use torsion or anti sway bars with the pintle system or dont you need them?

Thank you for all the info, Scrapman. How about the details of the trailer for the 2008 44MTI towed behind the 450?
