BFG AT's are great tires. I've had a few sets of them. But they do make some noise. -Especially if you slip on the rotating. I haven't been off-road in years and was in the market for new tires this past winter. Switched from the BFG's to the Michelin LTX. Way less aggressive tread, but the ride is so smooth and quiet makes my Tahoe feel like a new truck.

My truck came with Michelins, I put 75K on them. I replaced them with Goodyear Wrangler "Silent Armor". LT285/70-17.
I think they are great. Not too loud and ride great.

I also had a set of Pro Comps. They only lasted about 25K. Wore smooth out. Must be very soft rubber ... ?

I replaced my Michelin 10 ply with the Toyo 10 ply and for the money I love them. Michelin was a fine tire, just got lazy on the rotate and they cupped on me. I have yet needed 4 wheel drive on any ramp.

I sell alot of the Nitto and Toyo ATs, Nitto seems to have a little better pricing,,personally I like the Michelins, but their a little overpriced IMO, and the biggest size I've found was a 285/65r18 in their new AT2s,, not a big fan of the BFGs(seem to take to much weight to balance) and I don't like the wear patterns I see on them, the old Bridgestone ATs(not the Revo's) wore good and rode good just didn't have the sizing your looking for, and I know nothing about the MTs.

As was previously stated, everyone has their favorites, and this is just my opinion, but as a tire store owner I see alot of tires come through here

The TireRack has a great site. And it's a great place to work, too

If anyone wants any input or has any direct questions, feel free to email me at [email protected].

I need to work on them supporting the site :-) Just not sure how many people from a boating site would buy tires via this site.
