With all due respect, your concern shouldn't be the $200 ticket you might get. Your concern is probably better placed in avoiding the possibility of having your insurer deny coverage on a multi-million dollar claim. It's also probably better directed at avoiding a criminal charge in the event someone dies in an accident, considering you knowingly disregarded the mechanical capabilities of your rig. Lastly, My guess is you don't want to live the rest of your life with the burden of having caused the injury or death of another.
The RV registration thing is more of a detriment than a shelter. That shows you're knowingly maneuvering to avoid compliance. If you have to play that card in front of a jury in a civil trial or a reckless homicide prosecution, I don't think they'll buy it. No smart attorney would ever let you try.
No bash intended, just hopefully trying to help you see it from a different perspective.

I guess your knowlege of vehicle law and enforcement is just as vast as your mad FBI skills. Your rant about my camper is similar to you calling and harrassing a guy (the wrong one I might add) who ALLEGEDLY screwed another member out of $300.00. As I recall, you had absolutely no invovlment in that deal.....yet, you want to be the (Authority) on that one also. What happened to you as a child to make you have such a big chip on your shoulder?

Aren't you like a shop foreman for a trucking company or something? Do you even own a boat? I do think that it is funny that you are on a website like this and you do not personally own anything that the website is actually about. However, you are an expert on everthing. I looked around and I see that you are posting in every active post to give advice on any topic being discussed. Maybe you can take the full size hk in your signature line and go pistol whip the wrong guy you called on the phone during your investigation over the $300.00 that had nothing to do with you.......jeeze get a life dude.

Illinois is very sensitive to this issue after an accident killing 7 children prompted an investigation leading to multiple prosecutions including the governor who is now in federal prison. His attorney is another former governor with a lot of clout which did no good. If you are in Illinois and something bad happens, not only will your insurance be void, but if you are in any way over limits or illegal, you will probably do prison time.

how could anybody get their azzes handed tothem on a thread designed to help in decisions? Believe me, I am very aware that Chris can come on strong, but he absolutely knows what he is talking about. I don't just rely on his word. I have spoken to friends who are States attorneys, attorney generals, and state police. You can do whatever you want, but if something bad happens, you need every possible variable controlled in your favor.
