I wont be towing right away. I may take a few 2 hour trips to Annapolis but for now just towing around town so I can finish her.

Vehicle just made since overall for what I wanted. After researching the GCWR I am confident I am under the the allowable. Plenty of room for the family, diesel 4x4 and imho just an all around useable vehicle. (not an everday driver) Oh yeah it was either this or an H-2 or older converted H-1 topless just for play not tow. (Wife is happy I went with Excursion)............maybe next time!

My biggest issue is going to be trailer set up. Like one member added the weight of quads on bracket will play a factor (2 strokes) . I m going to have to really research this. My inital thought is a longer trailer to offset tongue weight. I did think about axle placement but something I am not sure of. Thsi will be the next topic on OSO !!!

And most improtantly a Midnight Express logo for the back window

I ll post some picts of it. (its a 2002 limited all black with tan leather 2 rows of captains chairs one bench and clean has 101K more mileage than what I wanted but from what I have been told thats just broken in....... it was an excellent deal)
Congrats, my BIL bought a 2002 F350 dually with 150k miles and has had zero problems with the motor. 2002 is the best year for the 7.3.

A dually conversion is a great idea as it will add stability to the rig. My suggestion is to go with the new superwide tires which will save a lot of weight over duals. Garrett AirResearch has a new turbo out for the 7.3, and downpipe issues might pop up as well.

Join the Ford forums, those guys have tons of good info on your new vehicle.

If you want to call me and I'll tell you what I did to mine and what worked best but I have way to much stuff on my truck to list. just pm me. If you want a 2nd row bench I would gladly trade you mine for the 2 seats, you will be driving right my shop if you are taking 95 to Annap.

Take the guess work out of setting up your trailer, and order an aluminum Myco. They are expensive, but the only way to go.

MBRP turbo back all the way! Make sure you get the 4" downtube. 7.3L PSD do not have cats.

7.3L do not whistle near as much as the 6.0L do. If you go with straightpipe (sans muffler), you will hear more whistle. I do NOT recommend this in an SUV/X.

You can talk to Mark & Tom at www.lightning-motorsports.com and order anything from them. They are both boat owners (AT & Concept) and both are OSO members OutlawMark & Throttle Therapy here on OSO). They will give an OSO discount, and also mention my name for bonus points.
They are just north of Tampa and can get most parts next day, and they drop ship. Depending on where you pick up the truck, they may can install it on your way home.

Buck183 here on OSO also peddles all of this gear as well!

www.thedieselstop.com is PRICELESS for PSD info.
I recommend DiPricol guages as well, Trans Temp, Boost, and EGT. The gauges below look EXACTLY like the factory Ford gauges, and I looked at ALL of them.
http://www.puredieselpower.com/catal...bab36a47f27b3f

I also recommend the foam element upgrade/kit in the stock airbox from www.trueflow.com as well. DO NOT buy K&N for your PSD = junk!

I have all of the above in my 2000 7.3L PSD dually with 90K miles and love every mile of driving that truck. This weekend it is getting the full 2005 Harley Davidson/FX4 front end and HID headlights.

Thanks sydwayz.............just got back from Florida last night with the truck.

15 hours straight, never an issue.

It is a beast. I am very impressed with it. Family loves it as well.

The highway handeling is awesome.

It is loud around town though !!! I guess something I have to get use to.

congrats on your purchase!
I strongly recommend you visit the dieselstop.com
Their Excursion forum will cover just about every question and modification to the Ex that you could think of. The guys there have towed just about everything, and setting one up correctly is important, especially when approaching GCWR.
I've done a lot of mods to both Excursions I've owned, have towed tens of thousands of miles with them, and believe they're great trucks once the deficiencies are corrected as they came originally from Ford.
