There seem to be a lot of 6.4 owners who have had "major" issues. When you have a good one, they are great. when not they are REALLY BAD.

The Duramax is the way to go IMHO it is proven and the allison tranny is totally bulletproof.

Thanks everyone for buying American.

I HAVE BOTH..both great depending what your trying to do. The Allison can handle appr.500 hp vs 600 for the Torquesift...proven on the diesel forums. Motors..I give the edge to the Duramax..I have 6 of each and its very close on reliability..with the miles being around the 160k mark on both. Power is slightly more on the GM truck but it also weighs appr 800lbs less..due to mainly less of an under carriage. The Ford dually out pulls my GMC dually way safer especially pulling my 43 NorTech when a semi goes on by. Corning is also better on the Ford. Comfort is slightly better for long hauls in the GMC. Price.. appr the same. GM gives you more creature comforts and buttons.. where Ford gives you more tech. stuff for hooking up a load like back up camera, better tow hooks..stuff like that. I like them both. Its unfortunate that they brake..

We went back and picked up a Lariat tonight, loving the truck so far....Anyone have any idea on what the changes are to the 2010 model? I was told there will be a newer better diesel version released next month.

from what Ive been rerading on these diesel forums, Ford is hush hush on this. I hear coming out 2nd quarter in 2010 for 2011 model year.. who the hell knows though... I only print what I read.

I see this feature has been deleted..that sucks..I have that on my 08..what a difference in turning radius as well as towing keeping the front end stabalized.

was talking to a guy this weekend who claims to know alot and said that Ford is working with VOLVO on the next generation diesel motor for F-series trucks. Called the "Scorpion"

Now if they can let Volvo make it and not Ford, it will be a good motor. If Ford gets their fingers into the mix like the 6.0, who knows.

American car mfgrs can't make a diesel. That's why GM let Isuzu build the Duramax and Chrysler buys their diesel from Cummins.
