...the 05 came out with a much stronger trans.than the 04...253
I had the 47re on my 2003 3500, maybe the 05s came out with the 48re? I have the G56 manual on this 06 dually, I bought it to tow heavy loads and get better fuel mileage. The gears are lower too.

Cat - Why exactly would I care what Gary recommends for his cross country haulers?
Because you're the one bashing Dodge because of the ONE TRUCK you have experience with. Gary knows them all and he recommends Dodge. Why? Because he needs his drivers on the road not in the shop.
Like I said you got a lemon. Happens to a lot of folks and when it does the victim wants to blame the mfg. instead of just the one vehicle. Am I just lucky because I've not had any problems with my Dodges? I know they don't have many miles on them but you would think after a total of almost 120,000 miles on both, SOMETHING would have broken...

It's not a lemon, it's a POS.

I forgot to say I still have the original brake pads also, maybe I got lucky and bought the best truck Dodge ever built, or just by chance, ,maybe I take care of the things I own,,I have alot of friends, we drive all brands made, some are taken care of and are nice trucks w/very few problems, some are a POS because they treat it that way, some never change tranny oil, ever, one guy never changes eng. oil, just keeps adding oil when needed, unbelieveable.

I totally agree on the Freightliner comment, when I bought my o5 Ram 2500 diesel new prices were pretty close, speaking of class 8 trucks, I go with Peterbilt, any Paccar product is well built.
