3.31 makes quite a bit of difference. My dad has 3.73 in his eco and i think hes at 2000 rpms at 70 mph. Im at 2000 rpm at 82 mph. Darn trucks only do 100 mph stock lol

I towed my boat with a 3:55 truck and it worked noticeably harder than the 3:73 truck up the same grade. Dont think I'd want to try my toy hauler with a 3:32 truck.

Nice to know what its capable of if you gear it for the task though.

3.31 axle does everything and more for what i want out of it now. The most I tow is the 25OL and it does that great. It just sucks ill have to swap gears or trucks if I ever upgrade to a 30'+ with twin bbc. I could swing towing a 29 fever with a single 525 im sure

What were you towing for a boat? What size toy hauler?

Yeah I got twins now in my 29 fever with which probably a little ligher than some boats. Losing an engine would net you probably 5-800lb weight savings. But depending on your terrrain and all 331 might be a push for that truck, 355 I would swing it but anything close that 10k mark personally would want 373

I have a 2011 Eco super cab 6' bed by far the best tow vehicle I have ever towed with truck feels great with a 292 fastec on the back I'm averaging about 13 mpg all back road driving to the marinas. I would assume my load with boat gear and trailer is close to 10k pounds on the highway I gotta watch it sometimes I dont even relize I got the trailer and I'll creep the speed over 60 no sway complete control. This truck has well exceeded my expectation since it was a half ton w a v6.

A Laveycraft 2750 28.5 ft of boat and about 32 feet on trailer with half a tank of gas each time and full truck. (7500 ish) Its also got a radar dome and arch in the wind.

Watch it pull top gear up this pass between Dessert Center and Parker- a long hot remote section where if you get into trouble- you are in trouble. The guys that boat havasu - Los Angeles know this well.

a 19 (24ft) Ft Nitrous hyperlight toyhauler with 2 quads in it and 100 gallons of water. 9500 (ish)

The 373 truck did great.
The 3:55 truck was working harder but did it.

The 3:55 truck struggles with the hauler and needs a gear or 2 lower with the boat in the same conditions.

It doesnt get as good a mileage as the 373 truck towing, but it does better freeway unloaded or lightly loaded like a 3500Lb boat.

2 tanks of fuel, 1000 miles so far. best I've seen was 16.1.. 200 miles of towing (about 5k#).. Most of my driving is on the turnpike at 85-90mph so Im not hoping for 25mpg or anything. I think it'll continue to improve as I get used to it and quit winding it up just to see what it'll do..

On a side note, i HATE the blinker/brights switch. Its so vague.. Half the time when I go to turn it off, I turn the OTHER blinker on.

And it needs a fold down armrest for the drivers seat on the left side.. The seats are so wide I have to lean over towards the door to rest my arm on it.. But Im just nitpicking because I have nothing major to complain about like every other truck I've owned in the last two years.

lol I hate the blinker thing too, the lights are easy i leave mine on auto and brights is just pulling it.

Yeah 85-90 is going kill the mpg really in any car. If you slowed down to about 70-75 you would probably be closer to 20.

Either way the MPG wasnt really lied about by Ford as there numbers are what everybody is getting, its just ford boasted it so much that people thought it was going to get 30mpg when the whole time Ford only said 15/21. Good marketing on their part. Either way for a half ton to get 15/21 and tow over 10k is impressive, and not only do it but do it well.

I struggled with the blinker as well! (I figured it was just me- I gues not!)

Also in a video I havent shown I discuss the length of the distance from my left elbow to the the wheel as being a big too far for me.
