I have a 2015 Yukon Denali with the same drive train and it pulls my 7500lb boat and trailer like nothing. I did a few mods on mine and I can take a lot of cars from the light towing. I have 150k on mine and other than the dealer recalls It's still running great, I plan on putting 500k on it. I am looking to upgrade my current boat to a 39 and I will tow it with the Yukon. Even the new gas motors from GM and Ford don't have the torque of my 6.2 after the upgrades. On top of that the Yukon has the same brakes as the max tow package truck. Just saying you have options.
Where do you live??? I want to stay the Hell away if you are towing a 39' anything with a Yukon. I own an 19 Denali and there is No way in Hell I would tow my Gun.
Customer- Mr Insurance Man- I rear ended some SOB that pulled out in front of ME-
Ins Man- Good luck w That.

I run the Exergy Sportsman in my '11 Duramax.

No tuning required...

Yeah pretty sure my 200k mile 2011 LML just fragged the CP4. Got towed home last week and haven't touched it yet. Died on the highway, change fuel filter message. Changed filter and primed crap out of it an not even trying to fire. I'll end up fixing it and keeping truck, truck is deleted already with mild tow tune and DID pull awesome. It basically sits in the garage unless pulling the SxS or boat for 6-7k miles a year haha. Still cant justify payment on newer diesel nor find another rust free truck like this one for what I'll have into it.

Not sure if I'll spend the extra coin to convert to CP3 or jut put all OEM CP4 stuff back on and send it for another 100k miles. I understand the replacement Bosch CP4 pump has been redesigned from the early models like I likely have.

I don’t have a high tech diagnostic scanner and no check engine light... took the FPR off and found this...

injectors direct CP4 kit is $2400. Could not justify +$5k for a CP3 kit for an 8 year 200k mile truck. I’m glade someone agrees with me.

Yeah I've been planning on doing that to confirm diagnosis, just been too darn hot to stand in driveway to wrench on it haha. Yeah, I'm thinking go with OEM stock and add lift pump to help. I found reman OEM kit for ~$1800 and all new OEM Bosch for ~2900 in my quick searches so far.

I had an LLY and it would overheat (found out about their heating issues after I bought it).

I’m going to be patient and not give my truck away so I’ll probably be driving it for a while. I plan to run an additive but there are SO many options. What made you choose 2stoke oil? What kind and how much? I’ve also heard ATF fluid?

I’m not so much bothered by the cost of fixing it. I’m annoyed about breaking down again while pulling my boat to the lake. What ever I buy I know I’m going to have to work on eventually.
Only in the most extreme cases will it overheat (run like that for a long time). Most of the time the only way to tell is pressure on the cooling system. Overheating is usually from a clogged radiator.

The two stroke has to be ashless....TC-W3 rated i believe. Marine two stroke is what i buy. I only mix in an 0.5 oz per gallon or so. I just use it because I used to put it in my 6.0 all the time. It never gave me any issues and I know that it has helped duramax injectors in the past. I've heard of ATF as well but never used it.

I understand completely. just for the love of all things holy.....don't buy a 6.4!

I regularly tow 10k-14k with my 2015 6.2 gas F250, fuel mileage isn't great but I have no issues with the truck and have only done normal maintenance.

My truck didn’t make it to my garage... I tore into mine Sunday outside and it was hot! Had to act fast, I’m missing lake time!

I was kind of in the same dilemma last year. My 2007 2500HD 8.1/allison with 160k was going need about 4k in maint and repairs if I was to keep it. Looked at used options and prices were crazy high and still no way to verify how reliable the truck would be. I ended up finding a new leftover 2019 Chevy CC 2500HD Duramax LT with high options in TX in February. After rebates and incentives, it was priced lower than most comparable 2018 low mileage Duramax's. After all was said and done, it was almost 18k off sticker.

It is definitely not the most handsome tow rig but my 2006 Chevrolet Express van with a LBZ Duramax has been a great vehicle. I bought it with 30k miles and now have 250k.

I've towed some very heavy things with it and have had very few problems. I am on my second transmission but its mostly my fault for beating on it with an extreme tune for years.

I use it as my dirt bike camper van so when I tow the boat out of town I've got a comfortable place to sleep.

The paint is falling off pretty bad so I most likely look like a homeless person with a really nice boat.

Tell me how you really feel!

I have the exact same drive train as the Max Tow on the 1500 which is rated at 11,500lbs, that includes braking system, I have upgraded the brakes with the Baer kit which takes the front rotor to over 15" and high performance pads for towing. So I have more braking capacity than any stock 2500. I'm also running LT series KO2's. I like to run a lot of weight on the tongue for better trailer stability and the Yukon still sits level. I've had a brake line burst on my old boat trailer coming down a steep hill doing 70 and had to stop for a sudden light change, truck had no problems and no brake fade. There are some issues with the factory brake system on the direct injected engines, but I have resolved that as well, no thanks to GM. I have been pulling trailers for over 40 years and I used to build trailers for 12,000lb tractors so this isn't my first rodeo. Just saying.
