I ordered a 2022 Super Duty diesel Lariat and received the email confirmation from Ford February 6th. The dealer said don't expect to hear anything until around the 14th week mark, so when I had an email today from Ford about an important update about my order, I got excited until I opened it........

"While we've been busy working to get your new vehicle into production, we've run into a few delays. Sometimes certain features or options can lengthen the time before a vehicle is scheduled for production. We know there's a lot of anticipation when it comes to getting into a new vehicle, so we'll make sure to keep you updated"

They told my buddy with the F-350 Single Wheel to drop the fifth wheel prep package, add fx4 package, and drop the spray in bedliner and there was a good chance they might build it as a 2022. I tried to order a 2022 F-550 for work and they aren't taking orders for 2022 year model anymore. I don't want to order a 2023 yet because they don't have the price matrix available yet.

They had me drop the spray in liner and bed cover just like your buddy, they will do that when if it comes in. The other thing they said is that for some reason the 7.3 is taking longer, has anyone heard that?
I am not sure if they are operating like they used to but mid summer was when the companies used to change over to the next model year. At this point I have no idea what year mine will be.

The FX4 package cracks me up, skid plates, more aggressive tires and slightly stiffer shocks with "hill decent". Not sure about you guys but I am not taking a long bed 4 door 80K truck off roading, don't think I need that.

Ordered September 4th 2021. No VIN nothing yet.

Same thing went through all the options with dealer and dropped the ones that would hold up production.

Any word on when 23's can be ordered and what if any major changes, no one seems to know and can't find much online. Also at what point would it become the next model year or do they cancel the order and have you start over?

I find the ordering dates and the delay in receiving '22 trucks strange. I ordered a '22 Lariat Ultimate with almost every box checked off last September and I took delivery of the truck just after Christmas in '21. (A little over 3 months.) I had I think 2 delays that they notified me about but they were only about a week each. I don't understand why guys that ordered basically the same truck I did, at almost the same time, haven't seen anything yet.

Somewhat related: My buddy ordered a Maverick for his kid's first car. Early order last year, truck is built and will be here around the 24th. I think its 5-6 months behind the original schedule they told him.

That's the same thing my buddy said about the FX4 on his single wheel 350 lol! I agree the 7.3 seems to hold things up, if you had a 6.2 and are thinking about going 7.3 it is a no brainer for $2k. The shocks to me look identical to our 2019 F350 4x4 without fx4. The 2022 does ride a lot spongier than the 350 but I think that is because of 25 less psi in the tires. Hopefully you get a production date soon.

Hmmmm...interesting. A friend of mine, long-time Ford guy...almost EXCLUSIVELY a Ford guy...just bought a 3/4 ton Denali as he was told by his dealer (who he has purchased many, many vehicles from) to "expect a 14 month delay on a new Super Duty...".
I mean, does that become then a 2024 model before he gets it? Boggles my mind...

I think the easy answer to that is dealer allocations. The local dealer to us is smaller and doesn't have near the allocations as much larger dealers.
