Installed a flow scan unit this winter also, at 40mph once the boat settels down I am burning 15gph, with the 454mpi. Unfortunatly it only reads up to 20gph, so when I hammer it or go faster than 50 it reads past 20, might have to trade it for the one that reads up to 32.

I just purchased 2004 Sunsation 288 with 496HO and I am thinking about putting on a floscan so I can find the sweet spot and save some fuel etc.
What are your thoughts now that you have had one for a while?
Would you recommend? Etc.

Read my post in general disc. I sold my '32 Velocity this last summer to another forum and local club member. I had installed Flo scan shortly after I got it the boat (I ordered it). Staight up install, priceless info, and ~ 1% accuracy on total burn for seven years w/ twin 454 Mags. I will always have one! The install is not bad at all...you'll need some cable as mentioned in the other post, and put a couple of NAPA 3032 or 3033(whichever is 3/8...I forget) directly before(at least 6-8 inches prior) to the sender assembly. Safeguards any fine aluminum shrapnel from the tank or any anything from the rest of the fuel system to that point from jamming a pickup rotor. All these things are spelled out from Flo-Scan w/detailed install instructions, and their people are great.

You do not have to get a 32GPH unit, the "total" on your 20'er should still be accurate! I had gone ahead and put the 50 GPH system in the Velocity as pre emptive move for more HP. The rule for max burn is 10 GPH/per 100 HP. My 454 Mags burned exactly 35 GPH each @WOT. Rated 350 crank HP! Go to Flo-Scan's website, it's very nice.

Yup..I'm getting the 50GPH "Twinscan" for my new 353 w 425's. I was just pointing out that according to Flo Scan, total should still be accurate even if the GPH is buried.

My dad just installed them on his big diesels it has worked well on my boat. My only suggestion would buy direct from flow scan or call them to make sure you get the right one. The company I got mine through gave me the wrong gauge twice.

Then your "kit" had been openened! Or they sold you the wrong "kit". Yes, call them first for application if you have to. The system comes complete in ONE box that I know of, sooo if you order the right "system" you will get the right meterhead (guage). These systems are packaged at Flo-Scan. They may sell direct to you...unlikely, unless you are a current or repeat customer 
it will be at retail if they don't know you! The best price is at West Marine that I have found, they are cheaper than Consumer Marine Electronics and a couple others with traditionally good discounted prices.
