I think the 32 beam is 8'4 like most AT's.

I can't give you a comparison between a 28 AT and 28 Pantera, but my 32 AT rides WAY better than my 28 Pantera did in rough water. Both very solid boats, but the AT is so much more comfortable in rough water and I can easily run 15mph faster through 2-4's.

When we where looking to move up my wife and I had a few things that where a must on our list. 1) Rough water ride for Lake Erie conditions. 2) Full head in the cabin. 3) Safety for the kids. We then looked at every offshore brand in the 38' range as we wanted to be able to trailer the boat to where ever we wanted with reasonable effort for towing. We looked hard and each different brand has its plus and minus and are all good solid boats. Our final decission was based on the complete package of the A/T being that the cabin has everything we required, a deep cockpit that the kids are safe in, good speed with stock 525 power and room to upgrade when we wanted. But the final sales point was when Pat took us out for probably the most memorable ride we have to date in Miami at the boat show that proved to us this is the boat for us period. We love or A/T and would not trade it for any other brand so for us there is nothing other than our A/T. We wish you good luck in your search and hope you find what you are looking for.

AT no. I won't say, but think of a numeral; MANY, MANY moons ago (long before Active Thunder came to be) when a 25'-ish boat was a monster. :poopoo: No current comparison.

The hull design kinda counteracts the weight and gives it speed.

In a different business where we repair and paint/ graphic boats I see failures from some high profile builders that make me shake my head as to why they would be put in a position of liability and warranty for the sake of a few MPH.

There was a period of time where we ran faster and were lighter than many builders but warranty issues made me rethink being the fastest in smooth water to being the most fearless in rough water.

I chose the rough water. Hence a boat that rides very well in rough water but is agile and quick through design. When I land that solid "thump" is all I want to hear.

So the answer to your question really is that it is a wave crusher with a combination of weight and hull design but at the same time fast to hull design alone. DDC patented. I don't see a patented hull design with any of the competition but many will pay $100k+ to get a boat that doesn't handle safely and has warranty issues for a better advertised name.

Exactly the reasons when I am able(financially) to move up I will be looking at AT. Even though I have never ridden in one, from what everyone that owns one say's I will not be disappointed, I love the looks, and you are here to explain the reason things are the way they are.
