Re: Red Death
You guys are funny!
I took the advice of the "Apache Experts" when pricing Allez Vite. It sat for YEARS! I finally sold it (the guy before Nykamp) for less than half of the so-called "true-value." You can ask whatever you want, but asking and selling are completely different things. Numbers in the three's are nuts. Even the two's are probably wishful thinking . . . even for a perfect boat. |

Re: Red Death
Red.......
It is exciting to see someone interested in the heritage and pride of an Apache; However, the negativity you display towards the value and/or owner(s) in unappreciated. If the prices presented bother you, please move to another category. A man can do whatever he desires with his money. Anyone can purchase a power boat but owning an Apache is a uniqueness and that comes with a price. I invite you to witness this magnificent machine as well as other Apache's from the FPC perform in Key West. You will also have a great display of offshore performance power boats in and around the Galleon Marina. http://moonshiner.smugmug.com/photos/79705081-M.jpg http://moonshiner.smugmug.com/photos/46383539-M.jpg http://moonshiner.smugmug.com/photos/46435792-M.jpg http://moonshiner.smugmug.com/photos/46439284-M.jpg Oh..... and by the way, CHIEF IS THE $HIT. http://moonshiner.smugmug.com/photos/25266799-M.jpg |

Re: Red Death
You guys that own these beautiful boats, 41's, 47's, Sabers and even my distant cousin the Cig 42 Tiger. We don't need to justify ourselves to this guy, the time and care that you have put in your boats speak volumes, Carl has his whole Warhawk redo here on line, We have all gotten to see what Robert will do next on Tonto, predator back racing and winning, Running Brave being reborn as Spirit of Apache, Steve's bid for the 41 of his dreams and Parnell making the move to bring Saber more forward into the future and me looking for the right 41 or 47 to keep my Tiger company, all of us rallying behind mark when he had his accident, and he continues to get out and enjoy his ride with Lucy.
this is the true testament of what makes our brands and boats the best to us...If we have to explain/justify it to anyone, they wouldnt understand it anyway. |
Re: Red Death
Check out the engine room on Tatonka! It's not just mechanically beautiful, also durable and rigged to perfection. Apache Powerboats....Chief engines, thats as good as it gets.
Musi and Joe Whiner got some homework to do if they think they can top that. |

I hope this answers your original question.
They are usually multiple boat owners as well. The guy who owns 47 Pale Face also has a 41, 40ish Bertram race boat and a 46 Skater. The Dellatorre brothers have 3 Apaches alone and own a huge boat dealership. Safe to say none of these guys are going to sell for a low ball offer so they can go buy a new cruiser! |

Re: Red Death
Apache Pete thank you so much. This is the EXACT situation i want to avoid. The guys on the forem portray unrealistic selling numbers because they dont want to devalue their boat.Asking ang getting REALLY are two different things. The Apaches are terriffic boats but as my friend who owns the Navasink Marina up here in NJ told me two hundred grand is tops no matter the condition, layup drives ect ect .Flat out (and this guy has ABSOLUTELY no reason to lie ,)if you buy one for more or you buy one for less and sink the money back in over 200k and your upside down.

Re: Red Death
Comanche ,i saw the ad you referred to lets see how long it is on the forem and what it actually sells for?
|
Re: Red Death
Lol!!!!

Re: Red Death
TOO funny ,now someone is trying to broker Leafs boat on the forem for 125,000.00 (the very same boat i referred to MANY times in my previous statements )Navasink NJ had it for the entire summer could not get 85,000.00 (WITH SEMI) and now someone wants 125,000.00 (Steve i know you want to kill me for revealing that , so i owe you a drink)
|
Re: Red Death
ps EXCUSE ME typo error they want 95,000.00 not 125,000.00 for Leafs Apache Warrior.

Re: Red Death
Carl,Leafs boat will be sold somewear in the 70s because that is what it is worth whether certain people want to admit it or not.My question is if Steves boat is sold for 75,000.00 how can these others be worth 5-6 times as much?.I know they have upgraded drives and engines ect but 5-6 times as much .One guy wants 80 grand for an incomplete hull,(needs glass work )power drives and rigging.Steve CANN0T get that for a turnkey boat with Semi in very good shape (look at the pictures on the forem) They can ask whatever they want.

Re: Red Death
From what I have noticed about the boat you mention it needs serious updates.
1 pair #6's w/transom assemblies $40,000 1 pair of 1000's complete $100,000 update interior $5,000 New gauges and controls $5,000 Misc. rigging updates $5,000 Now assuming you do all of the labor yourself and a $85,000 purchase price that puts you at a grand total of $240,000 for a 1987 boat not built anything like some of the boats that have been mentioned. That also is leaving the paint as is and not accounting for removing the arch which is a must. So it is easy to see where some of the price tags on these boats come from. Most of the boats with these asking prices have had Mcmanus refurbs which usually include reinforced transoms. |

Preditor Raceboat (sold last March for 80.000) Warpaint (another nice NJ Boat ) new 1000s ,full stagger ,3as is in the high ones. The fact that the boats you mentioned are of a lighter layup is great, but does that make them worth 2-3 times the forementioned.
I own a 36' Apache and I bought it "below" market value with a blown engine....rebuilt both of them got new drives and paid the difference of what the boat would have been worth running. |
Re: Red Death
RBR ,just because you put it in does not meen you get it back.Panther, yes i did.

Re: Red Death
PS RBR the white 41 i spoke about in an earlyier post-now wrecked is a prime example of what i am talking about.A Calif boat EVERY MECHANICAL part in the boat was restored to NEW(Number6s,1000s ect )Cosmetically it showed almost show room yet the guy who was trying to sell it had it listed forever and could not get 250,000.00(AND HE HAD ALOT MORE THAN THAT INVESTED) WHY The market is just not there.

Re: Red Death
Panther (Frank )thank you so much. That old Sutphen could hall some serious ass in its day.I am now trying to do the same with an Apache. If i am sucessful you are always welcome to go for a ride, come down to the Navasink or if your out on the river ask any state trooper where i am at ,for some strange reason they always knew, thanks again,JOE.

Re: Red Death
I would compare shopping for an Apache to someone shopping for a vintage automobile.
I've been shopping for Apache's (in my dreams) for a long time. A number of 41's in all different configurations have come up for sale in the last few years for all sorts of different money. But if you want the "right" Apache, I guess it's kind of like looking for a winner at Pebble Beach...It was restored properly, therefor it'll sell for more money. Tonto, WarHawk, Tatonka, Warpath, Allez Vite, Geronimo, and a small handful of others are just in a different league. These boats and their owners have just raised the bar, it's really just that simple. In my opinion they are worth every last penney. |
Re: Red Death
PS Yes i still do have the Blue Viper .Nick has the engine apart, (Monmouth Park) I dropped a valve in a magazine shootout 2 years ago and took it off the road.I want to sell it .Interestling enough even though the car is a four time Atlantic Mopar National Champion and has over 35 grand in the engine it is worth only slightly more than a bone stock Viper because that is the realistic market value.Just because i was foolish to put it in doesnot meen i get it back when i sell it.

It'll be nice to have another Apache around here! I'm the only one these days now that Steve is in GA!! PS. I rode on the ocean with Billy a couple times over the summer and I think he was a little surprised when the slow antiquated Apache was keeping up with the 51 OL.. ;) |

Re: Red Death
Frank the guy with the record is my friend Evan Smith (magazine test driver).Things are getting out of hand with these cars now its insane.Years ago i ran a streetable 650 hp on pump gas and had on of the fastest Vipers on the east coast.Today my car is a toy.One thousand horsepower twin turbos are almost commonplace .A guy i used to race with Jason Heffinor produces engine packages in the 1600 hp range on pump gas.Hot Rod tested one of these things and proclaimed it the fasted true street car in the country.7.8 at 177MPH .The car is streetable enough to go from NY to LA with the air on.Just sick.

Re: Red Death
