36 37 Stepped Warrior
Hey guy just picked up the 2000 warrior from Smokin Gun. Have a couple of questions
1 How many were actually built I counted 5? 2 What power to MPH could I be looking at? 3 Is it a 36 or 37? 4 Is it a true apache? As it came from the 36 mold as far as I can tell. 5. Why on a short run of them? Legal issues with Nutech & Apache? I know I'll have a lot more questions as I rig. Thanks and sorry for the questions list just would like the history. |
I think from reading history of Apache, Saccenti split off from Kramer and started building the 36,28 & 21 under Apache Powerboats. While Kramer stayed in Miami and built the 41 & 47 under Apache Marine. Something like that........
|
So was that the police boat that went through the auction?
|
Yes this is the ex police
|
Bobby built a single step in 2001 and one in 2002 the 01 had Merc 575 and ran 90 at lake X, the 02 ran 80/82 with Merc 500's. They ride great and I believe are wood free so there way lighter then the old ones. The 02 sat a foot higher in the water then my speed master 94.
|
What one was run a ground? So the 2 Single steps, did they run better worse faster slower handling act? Again thanks everyone for your input. Just brought the motors to the shop last night.
|
Claims 84-86mph with 500hps

There is wood in the f2 boat. Transom, stringers bulkheads etc but lots of Kevlar.

Sick Stinger, nice ride. I have a few pieces of history for you. I believe there were (6) twin step 36' "Apache by Newtech" boats made from '99 to '00. Bobby was involved in the builds, and Richie Powers was involved in sales. I had heard a while back that Lattitude Powerboats provided the lamination for them. I rode in a '99 w/500HPs on Biscayne Bay. She ran well, 78 MPH with 6 adults. In '00 Bobby and Eric got together and built a few single step 36's. I have owned an older non step 36', and currently own an '01 Single Step, and can vouch for the performance gains over the older models. My 94' ran 78 with 600 Eickerts, and the '01 runs 86 with 575SCi's. Enjoy your new ride.

There was a staggered single with 575's. Dialed in a Lake X. Wish I had the cash to make that deal because Bobby gave me a great price... It was 30-40K out of my range at the time. :-(
|
I'd suggest getting in touch with Bobby. He can give you all the details you want to know about your boat.
|
Pathetic how do I get ahold of him?
|
Staggered 36 with 575's was a 2003, built for the same guy that built Freedom, now Blue Moon. All really great boats.
|
Cool man I hope it is. Excited to run it and see how it runs.
|
Yes, I am pretty pathetic but I did send you a PM with his email address.

Sorry iPhone auto correct thanks panther I will get on sending him an email.
|
Is that the 36 Apache that is just south of the Linton bridge?
|
Looking at the map, it appears it is.

Sick Stinger,
Panther and Nykamp gave you what I know about the staggered 575 boat. It was also in the Miami Boat show. The only other thing is that I believe the bottom was changed/modified after she was already built and tested. I am not sure how it affected the performance. The '04 is somewhat of a mystery boat. The pics I have show it with no steps. I believe it was severely damaged in an accident while being towed on the trailer. I am not sure where it is now. Panther is right, call Bobby, and he can answer any of your questions about your boat. |

I thought that was the one but I could be wrong.
I think he owns a tanning business or something like that. Pretty sure this was the 575 boat. Maybe it wasn't stepped?. |
I am almost positive the staggered 575 boat was stepped originally. Maybe the bottom work I heard about years ago included filling in the step??
|
Both 2004's had there steps filled in by Thad's group.
|
I have been told several times by a credible source only 4 exist

So filling the step I would figure slowed it down a bit but assume it had handling issues. From what I'm told the Twin step handle like a straight yet performance of the steps. If it was the best if both worlds wonder why it was changed to a single.
There is : The F2 mine The ohio one Staggered one And the 2 single step ? Sound correct I know one ended up on the beach I saw the pic but not sure what boat that was althought I'm sure some one here does. Thanks guy any more pics if these would be great. I'll have a build/rigging thread one I start on it in a few weeks |
I have personally taken the f2 boat through a sharp turn at 75 with 0 issue or even a hint of instability. Yet it runs into the 90's with warmed up hp500's. best of both worlds in my book.

Never heard why, we ran down to Key west next to the staggered one and it looked like it ran out nice with the steps. There's one in NJ, or NY that they used to call the John Deere 36, it the one that went way up on land years ago. I think it's twin step, with 500's.
|
I remember the pic of it! Bobby told me they were able to pull it off and I think he said it was actually driven home. lol

Yes, your right thats it. I dont know if he is on OSO but he is "our" type of guy... 3-4 years ago I lived just north from him and one afternoon I swear he must have had a party and was giving rides. He went from his house to Linton bridge and back 10+ times WFO & ballsout on a weekend afternoon. This may not sound like a big deal but the intercoastal is about 60 yards wide there and there are houses along both sides. The sound echoes between the houses. I just sat there and drank beer LOVING it. The neighbors - yeah... not so much.

Just offf the phone with "The Man' him self about these twin steps. There was 6-7 built. More TS tghen Single steps. The singles just didnt perform, he wanted to try it (paraphasing) and there was no gain so it went out the window. As stated earlier ventalation holes were also tried that was also a no gain no loss so pluged up.
The build , lay up, schedule ect is that of his own and that of the orginal 36, which were the effect of blockinh the 41 down to compete with a 35 cafe racer/38 top gun. He wanted to have a boat in that class size. The 28 , side not, was a cut down 36, again for that smaller crowd, so all derving from the 41. The boat was tested, F2 that is, with a very light lay up and the twin steps with 500s and they ran 86/87. The full cabin pleasure boats ran 84 with the HP500 or 500 EFI. Also as stated before the boat handles that of a straight bottom, per Mr. Saccenti actually better then a staright bottom with no ill handing, or surprise reactions to any of the conditions. But this had the speed gains as you would exspect that of a stepped boat should. Rought water ride is also rite there with the original 36 boats but with a lighter lay up and and moddified CG so the boat flys as it should. Molds were cut up, and i mean cut up by hand by Bob destroyed and thats was the last of it. There was a falling out between Bob and the other gentalman of Newtech. Bob as we all know is in a new veture at Cheif powerboats. And i was told that the 42 Chief is all the of a 41 Apache but with the new tech. of today and is just and over all great product due to all the time effort and R&D put into the Cheif boats. I thank Mr. Saccenti for taking the time to speak with me and what I was lucky enought to get due to a close frien. I hope this info helps other with the history of Apache. -Mike |
Thanks to Baywatch, who put me in contact with Bob. Also Panther who gave me Bobs email. All in all I'm proud to be part of the apache group.
