I have a 226 as well. Can you pm me with some details on how you made the hatch, etc. My hatch probably weighs about that much too! A very poor design to say the least.
I thought about getting one of those actuators that mounts in the center but I'm not sure how it would attach to my 454. Two actuators would be a pain in the ass.

Yea, no big deal to make. Took the bottom of the orig. hatch, piece of 1/2 plywood cut to fit the hole, layer of sweatshirt material over the foam baja sunburst logo, little resin and fiber mat, poof it was done.
You could do the same without the logo and just cover it with vinyl.

just found rot in the cabin area to night on the bulkhead were the bed is and the floor and the port stringer in cabin
MAYBE I should just strip it
