Congrats on the 33. You will be very happy with it. I debated between that and my 36. The 36 just offered more of what I wanted but the 33 would be faster.
As for the towing debate... I have been doing law enforcement for 15 years now. I have seen and worked all types of accidents in my time. There are reasons for tow ratings and why to stay within them. Yes, a lot of vehicles can physically tow more than they are rated. Just not safely. The main issue is stopping and going around corners. The ratings from manufacturers and the NHTSA are based upon strength of the frame, suspension, brakes and drivetrain. This is why a one ton truck might look identical to a half ton but is rated different.
If you were to be involved in an accident when towing over the rated weight of your vehicle, a couple things can or will happen..
1, Your insurance company will probably not cover any damages or medical costs because you were committing a criminal act. They will exploit any loophole to deny paying a claim. This also sets you up for civil actions if there are anybody injured as a result. It's a guaranteed loss..
2, You will be looking at criminal charges against you. If DOT units catch you it gets real expensive really quick. If its as a result of an accident and somebody is injured or killed, you can be held criminally liable as you willfully put other peoples lives in danger. I have seen homicide charges filed due to unsafe towing resulting in a fatal accident.
Do yourself, your family and everybody else a favor. Get a truck rated to tow the weight. Even if its an older used one. I have a 3500 Ram Diesel for no other reason than to tow my boat.

New boat!!
Well, the debate is over!!
Pulld a 33ol out of va last weekend!!
We pulled back with my dads new f150 fx4. Brakes on trailer work well and truck did pretty good. Trans temp barely rose as we took it easy 60-70. Up 60 and down 70 :-) the S side had a tire out of balance, if we could have stayed around 70, it held speed on hills better.
I will end up getting a F250 so I don't kill he wife's expedition! She got to ride in boat today as we took a ride in the lake w/o kids. Got rough on south end with some good 2's!! Smooth!! Love it!!!
Here's the real pic of truck and boat!! And put a few gallons of fuel to see if the gauge was right! Guess it was have only 3/4 now!!

thanks... the wife really liked how smooth the ride was in 2's.. big difference from our 25ol.
It was smooth enough just dropping drives, but then playing with tabs a little, it just plowed right through it!!! no very efficient, but smooth!

ok, I was ass backwards, but it will have to wait till next year.. will look at getting a tow/commuter diesel.... f250
