The ad reads
468 super clean, zero hrs, balanced @ mesa balancing.
If party 1 got porked from mesa & either knowingly or unknowingly passed the buck to party 2 what happens?

Either way....Lil red is ripping this motor down, checking bore & zero hr rings etc etc.......this way he knows what's being re sold

You also won't get one for $1,000 under your conditions either. (but I'm with you, I'm not buying a un-known motor either)
We've also heard this play out many times: one party claims a mis-deed, the other posts some info, and then we realize the truth is somewhere in the middle......and most of us will make judgement without truely knowing what really happened.

Purchase price was part of a package, I went off the $1800 advertised price and thought the boat was the remainder of $3500 my mistake if the boat was $2500 and engine was $1000. The motor would not have been bought if he knew the heads were peanut ports, and it wasnt a fresh motor. It really isnt a matter of it's worth, it's the fact the motor is not fresh 0 hours. He already had one that we heard run and had all the info on, a 425 ho.
I will pull the heads off tonight and inspect the bores, pistons etc. See what actually is fresh. Then contact the seller see what he has to say. He very well may have been screwed by whoever built it, but the reaction to questioning wasnt reassuring to that. Not going to say he knew what he had or didnt, but we'll just say it wasn't oh sh!t I'm sorry, I sold it as what I was told it was.

What difference does it make if the engine was bought for 1800 or 1000? If it was said to be this and this, turns out a old stocker is all it is, you still misrepped the add. :/

My thoughts exactly, man up and take the motor back, refund the money and move on. All this over 1K when it is clear what the man received is not what the ad indicated.

Zero hours must be what the seller had on it, not whoever had it before he did
$1000.00 might not seem like much to a lot of people on this site, but it is to many average guys that enjoy the sport and scrape together what they can and hunt for good deals so they can participate.

A friend purchased a fresh engine off of a member here, it was advertised as fresh with no hours, balanced and assembled by a reputable builder for a good amount of $$$
He gets it home a 24 hour drive and there is carbon in the exhaust ports, he was told it had over 400hp I pulled the valve cover to find peanut port heads that are deff not fresh. I questioned the seller and through the buyer was told to go f.;ck myself. How would you guys handle this?????

The response of "go fuk yourself" is out of line...this is a business transaction not a personal attack (right?). I doubt the seller would address a client like that at his place of business, what's the difference here?
