Sorry about that.

No problems. When I looked at it, the batteries were dead so the engine hatch wouldn't raise and she kept trying to sell me a 32ft fountain repo. She didn't talk the Bullet down, but she was much more interested in getting rid of the beak boat. I looked at it within an hour of looking at the one at DoubleDiamond(that Residual Image picked up) and they were asking the same price.

Hey R. Image, hows the new ride? That looked like a great boat.

DealmakerC6 01-29-2008 05:00 PM

Boat's awesome!! only splashed it twice, but i check the weather channel daily waiting for warmth!
MINOR EMERGENCY: Anybody have a pdf, JPG, or whatever of the cursive Cigarette logo? I have a wrapping company ready to add [although not totally wrap] graphics to the boat, I am gonna check the rest of the site right now, but if anybody has one it would be much appreciated, I am looking for the smoother one from the late models. Thanks for all the help.:cool-smiley-027:

Did you just buy that one?

Hollowpoint 02-01-2008 06:55 PM

I think I remember seeing that for sale in the last few months also. What's it got for power?

brklink 02-10-2008 07:42 AM

Bought it in june of 2007 i am in in the process of re powering and new interior. for power it will have 540's nitrous motors i am trying to put the money together for paint but motors are killing my pockets. anyone know any good painters??

Hollowpoint 02-10-2008 09:12 AM

Sorry, paint is way down the line for me. Wish I could help.

Has anyone here ever done an offshore boat with nitrious?

I've never heard of it.

birdog 02-10-2008 10:44 AM

Save the NOS $....It's not the answer for boats. If you prop for it..You are wrong without it.and vice-versa. and....
how long do you hold the button ? a few seconds ? you will empty your bottles everytime you need it.

brklink 02-10-2008 01:14 PM

cool birdog appreciate the advice what i was going to do is set it up to run 5500 rpm naturally and 6700 on the nos so props won't be an issue. my engine builder has done this on several boats with sucess. if it doesn't work then ill use blowers. but my thinking is with nos i can run 87 octane once i arm the nos it will turn the 87 off and start pumping straight race fuel from the pony tank wait a few second let it fill the carbs and use the nos for 4 to 5 sec bursts.

Hollowpoint 02-10-2008 03:46 PM

On an offshore boat 4-5 sec isn't jack. And the extra money and work to set up the rig with and extra tank and an engine to spin that high (and use NOS), you could better spend it on building better engines that will last. 6700 rpm is pretty high!

Seriously, 4-5 or even 10-20 sec NOS bursts isn't going to do any good on a 30-45 minute offshore ride, not to mention what you could possibly do to the motors if you have to let off and get back on it if you come out of the water. If you're only boating on a smooth lake and you want that kind of speed, get a 21-28' cat with outboards.

DealmakerC6 03-01-2008 01:03 AM

Hollowpoint-any luck getting the owner's directory put together?

Hollowpoint 03-01-2008 09:57 AM

I've only received 3 PM's with info, so including my boat I've 4. Pretty piss poor performance from the Bullet owners IMHO.

So I've given up and won't be hassling anyone one anymore. Plus winter is almost over and I can start boating again vice just talking about it. If more would show interest, maybe I'll try again NEXT winter....

bringing one back

hey bullet fans. just picked up a 88 bullet. she is in need of some tlc but totally saveable. looking for cockpit stuff due to water damage from sitting outside. are these a numbered boat? i see you guys are trying to locate bullets and was wondering if you could tell from the vin# which one i have. pretty excited about my new project and plan on adding pics in the near future. any parts for sale or advice would be greatly appreciated. you guys have some pretty awsome bullets posted on here keep up the good work on the best going thread on offshoreonly!!! see ya on the water soon!!!

Hollowpoint 03-18-2008 08:13 AM

Welcome 88Bullet,
IMO, you now own the best rough water boat in the 30' range. Your speeds may not be as fast as newer hulls, but in exchange, you get a sweet ride, and a nice cabin to boot. You may have already read this previously, but there were 68 bullets made from 1988 until the mid 90's. If you need Cig parts, I've always had luck with Lipship Marine, but Cig parts in general are pretty expensive. Let me know if you need a manual for your new toy and I'll send a copy.

Show us some pics soon!

carter38 03-18-2008 09:28 AM

Welcome to the cig family.

DealmakerC6 03-19-2008 09:51 AM

congrats! You're gonna love it! Like Hollowpoint said, you wont be the fastest guy on the water, but its a really sweet ride. I bought mine, hull #12 [thanks to the oso guys for that info] in November. what else can you buy thats 20 years old, and everyone around here thinks the boat is either new or less tha 5 years old! The bullets are the best bang for the buck for a Cig, imo. I'm probably not the guy to ask for advice on these, [like i said, november] but the oso guys have been great w/ advice and tips.

carter38 03-19-2008 11:15 AM

The ride is hard to beat for its size. They really do well in rough water. Wave crushers.

brklink 03-24-2008 06:21 PM

Hollowpoint any vhance i could talk you into a one of those owner manuals??

Keytime 03-28-2008 01:37 PM

Bullet relisted

I know some of you don't like this boat, but figured I'd show the relist on here. I didn't see this posted, so pardon me if it already has been. This boat was listed at Raymond's at LOTO for about $38900, I believe. They decided to move it down the road, apparently.

What's wrong with it other than the cockpit?

carter38 03-29-2008 08:56 AM

I have a friend thats sent them a couple of emails with no responses.

Don't know. Cabin looks good, FWIW. Someone else might have more info on any details. I don't know if there are any issues with stringers/transom/etc.

BDiggity 03-31-2008 02:35 PM

We are going to look at it fri. talked to the guy today, he said vinyl needs redone & the rear bench does have rot (saw that from keytimes pics). said transom, stringers, bulkheads solid (survey would need to verify that), there is bottom paint (original owner from TN kept in water) but they are removing that, but mechanically its fine. he did say the engines are stock but just rebuilt (i will ask for papers)- i told him ive never seen these 330 hp engines in any other so who knows. they are supposed to get it detailed & cleaned up so i will get more pics then. he also said boat came from table rock, but i dont ever remember seeing it. not that i know every boat there of course, but i always look for cigs.

I saw it when you were looking !!! :cool-smiley-027: I looked at it and the one you bought on the same day. You didn't miss anything. You bought the best one out of the two by a mile. I went over the one you bought at Double Diamond and, I know my eyesight is going, but I could not find a scratch on the outside of it. I even went back and spent 30 or 40 minutes with a salesman and it is a beautiful Bullet.

The 330 horse motors on the other one are an anomaly. I thought the 420 horse was what came in all of them??? I don't remember if it had a notched transom either? Did all the '89's have the notch?

31K asking price has got to tempt more than a few....

Hollowpoint 03-31-2008 06:19 PM

I have an original Cig Bullet Brochure and the engines listed as available were:
7.4 (330hp) and Bravos
320 EFI's and Bravos (I've NEVER heard of small blocks in one)
454 Mags and Bravos
Merc 420's and TRS
Hawk 5000's and TRS

If memory serves, I think when I checked on a Bullet in the early 90's, they told me the 330's were standard. I believe the majority of them came with the 454 Mags.

$31000 seems a little high still considering it needs complete update. 15 to 20k interior, paint, hydraulic steering. The 330hp is going to be slooooooow. A good buy on that boat would be below 30k. I would let mine go minus power for a little more that. Just alot of work involved in one. It does make you proud when you redo one though.

Hollowpoint 04-01-2008 06:50 AM

It is a buyer's market, and I expect if there is some rot in the rear seat, it will sell for under 30K. He won't need to spend the 5-6K for hydraulic steering unless he's throwing those engines out and getting some with a little more ass. And if most of the gauges are working OK, the buyer can put that off for a while and get by with just redoing the cockpit vinyl to get it on the water this year. I just wish it were coming to the Chesapeake Bay so I'll have some company!

It may not be t*tted out, but it's a driveable (possibly mechanically and structurally solid) Bullet for under $30k, most likely. If a buyer has to or wants to stretch the budget out a bit, might not be a bad boat. I didn't think the paint NEEDED to be done. I thought it was so-so in some places, but not horrible.
And for the record, I thought the Double Diamond Bullet (Residual Image's boat) could have had a better job done on some of the interior paint, like the dash. No offense, cuz that's a sweet boat, but just an observation.

I mean... while we're getting technical.... :cool-smiley-011:

BDiggity 04-01-2008 02:24 PM

I'm just trying to go in w/ an open, blank canvas mind. :)
Not too worried bout paint because this will be my first time docking twins so im sure im gonna have some errors during the first season. if it had nice paint like 5050's, steveh's, lakeluvrs etc, i might take my life if i put dock rash down the side. fri cant come fast enough tho!

carter38 04-01-2008 06:31 PM

Once you get used to twins you won't ever want to drive a single engine boat again.

Steve_H 04-07-2008 10:24 PM

cabin redo is almost done. ALL the carpeting is gone! all the teak is gone also. sorry for the crappy pics. new headliner is bright white. sides are black carbon fiber.
