The boat looks AWESOME !

Work your pace and deliver a boat anyone would be proud to own !

Full Force 06-29-2014 04:12 PM

I would not put old gauges in a freshly painted dash and what not, they gauges are not hard to change, they are already out.....I would hope anyway...

Full Force 06-29-2014 04:14 PM

Get rid of them hoses between the bypass and stat housing..... force all water through engine then out exhaust...them hoses allow lots of water to go out to exhaust easily...

Trying to see if this will work. Trying it on my phone. And you guys are probably right. But were gunna see. We pulled the motors in 2 hours so I can't imagine it will take all that long. And no my hands were the only hands doing the work. But I have buddies and boater guys local that help me with moving **** like the hatch and motors and stuff. It's supposed to be ungodly hot so we'll see what happens. Only the dash left to paint. Ending up not redoing the gauges just for times sake. I'll let the new owner design the dash and I'll do it how he wants or let him run it. Hopefully the photos work.

Your motors and bilge looks great !..... Nice to see (read) you give some advice instead of busting his balls!

Full Force 06-29-2014 04:41 PM

I busted his balls when he was being a smart ass ... I have plenty of advice to give, been there done that, hes is getting better at listening to the guys who have done what hes doing.... so I have no problem offering advice....

and thanks, I am a little particular, its looking cleaner now as time goes on... hoses are same and all that, things have to match or it drives me nuts lol

Im the same- your interior came out incredible!!

I think the OP is doing a great job, maybe he did come off a little cocky but shoot, we've all been guilty of that more than once. Regardless, I think he has already surprised a few people with what he has already done with the boat up to this point. I know he has captured a wide audience on this build, some rooting him on and others hoping he fails to say I told you so. Myself, Im excited to see the end product and another old Cig brought back to life !!

Full Force 06-29-2014 06:14 PM

Thanks again, yes my interioir was completely custom... simple old school without the piping... wanted a clean look...

we will see when done... pics hide lots.... hope he actually does the gauges, would look bad with all new paint and **** gauges...

caseyh 06-29-2014 10:12 PM

Looking good!

I pulled mine both twice due to machine issues. Not a big deal but again problems arise. As for the paint I'm just wondering in the stripe is it supposed to have the fade out in the edge and 2 different colors in the side or is the tape still on 1 side. Again just pics I know. I was told this was a crap job paint and any hack could do it. I went simple but maybe it is crap as Phil said

Full Force 06-30-2014 06:31 AM

just because you went simple does not mean it was easy or cheap, I prefer simple on older boats, they just look better.... I will never change the paint scheme on my mistress, those really look like chit when people try to update the paint.....

From what I see I like it. When you get it done and some outside pictures with a good camera we will really be able to see what the finished product looks like and if everything ties together.

I agree with the others, put the new gauges in, if you miss the 4th big deal in the big picture who cares if it is a week or two longer.

drivrswntd 07-09-2014 11:33 AM

Week off to work on it hows it looking? Picture updates?

Full Force 07-09-2014 11:35 AM

Longer project then expected...as always!

Sunrocket24 07-14-2014 07:20 PM

Any updates Phil?

caseyh 07-14-2014 08:51 PM

Has some on Instagram and on his Facebook. It's coming along nice

315duramax 07-16-2014 10:27 PM

shes all put together. the trailer held me up we welded some bunks about an inch off and the boat didnt sit right so we had to redo it which put us a few days behind. boats getting buttoned up at tims shop and should be together friday for the weekend! will post pics when its all buffed up and cleaned up!

Rwbrew3 07-16-2014 11:43 PM

You are SO gansta!!

J-Bonz 07-17-2014 10:37 AM

I just hope you changed your hitch........ :)
Just kidiing, good to see u make some headway.

315duramax 07-17-2014 11:22 AM

Ya it's really really dirty in these pics. I got some over spray on it just a little by spraying my bolster stands I had the fans sucking out and didn't bag the boat so it needs a real good wash and wax. Should have nice HIGH RES photos By the end of the weekend. Going to throw a quick buff and wax on it Friday night after I pick it up and finally knock on wood get to enjoy it for a weekend. Not to get any one rialled up.. But I'm going to be asking $47,000 with a 20hr full warentee on the boat front to back. And a 2 year warrantee on the paint. Again, these photos don't do anything justice, just posting them so y'all know she's almost finished. The dash came out pretty sweet. The original gauges totally take it to the retro phase IMO. I Think I hit this right on with updating and not going crazy but clean and simple. Not making this boat something it's not. Can't wait to post up pics and hear all the constructive critisim from all you guys! Hopefully with this first boat I will gain some respect from some of the few on here.

Full Force 07-17-2014 11:37 AM

Well I will wait for pics but looks good at the same fine something I think you will regret... You didn't do anything mechanical and want to offer a warranty for 20 hours that's a HUGE mistake... Boat is not a full restore just paint and interior... In the beginning it was a full restore... And I think with stock old power 47,000 is never gonna happen sorry maybe 27-32,000 is realistic...sorry that's my opinion

its in my shop right now and im rigging it. it will be just fine

Full Force 07-17-2014 11:43 AM

Tim I totally trust your Ability's but a 20 hour warranty on engines that are unknown seems insane to me

mptrimshop 07-17-2014 11:59 AM

What's the cost of a rebuild on a 454... Most it could be? If it Gets the boat sold, the warranty might be worth it. I know stock low hour 454's are not crazy $$.

It's a barging tool to.... Price can move if warranty goes away:

88bullet 07-17-2014 12:01 PM

they had a good leakdown. they are extremely clean inside. yes sh!t can happen but these are mild little 420's pretty tough little motors.

Full Force 07-17-2014 12:01 PM

Ya but still have drive and Trans issues... If you run a boat the way I do in big water ****s gonna break....

88bullet 07-17-2014 12:02 PM

i got a pr of merc 20 hour 454/425's for sale for 7k. old 454 stuff is cheap and everywhere!

Full Force 07-17-2014 12:02 PM

Stupid stuff happens I can see a established place like a huge dealer offering a warranty... Not a one man one boat thing .... Asking to lose lots of money.... I'm not stupid....

Full Force 07-17-2014 12:04 PM

20 hours can be 3 years for some guys.... So better have a huge chunk of cash sitting just in case.... I can't believe I am the only one that sees this being an issue??? Who offers a warranty on a 87 cig with old stock power?

jeff32 07-17-2014 12:39 PM

i sold 40 to 50 boats a year for 8 years for a small business, all speed boat between 25 and 35 footer.

always gave 20 hours full warranty and had once to rebuild an engine after a breakdown...

so in my opinion, it makes sense!

Unlimited jd 07-17-2014 12:59 PM

Thought "only Phil's" hands will touch the boat?

Full Force 07-17-2014 12:59 PM

Exactly!!! You obviously not a one boat sale shop!! When you sell that many there is lots more money made therefor mkney sitting just in case ... It's fine I'm not losing any so I guess it don't matter!!

315duramax 07-17-2014 01:33 PM

yes im starting a shop. yes its my first boat under my name. gotta start somewhere. i back what i build. im going to run the hell out of the boat for the next few weeks to make sure shes solid. if somethings gunna give any time soon, im going to make sure it goes while its still in my hands.
