You'd need at minimum a 42' Fountain to keep up with my awesome Mistress on the Great Lakes, I drive my boat HARD, it's the best boat I've ever been on!

Love how I didn't even say these things!! *******s... Haha never said that ****!

Not sure why I am even writing this.....I just cannot help myself.. I should probably just keep quite.. If there wasn't always that little bit of cockiness in your posts I probably wouldn't have posted this. It is comments like this that speaks volumes with you. Did you even actually read what Ed wrote? Is this even a real thread I am actually starting to wonder..? LOL, come on already...I read a little of it from the beginning again, I am trying to figure out why this thread is still even up.... 315duramax, you do come across cocky that is for sure, and this rubs a lot of people the wrong way, I remember being your age very clearly and having a little bit of that going on, I believe we were all like that to some extent, just comes with the age,I do however give you credit for taking on this project and I believe whether you admit it or not it is wayyyyy more than you thought, and as you mature and do more of these you will have more of an understanding of the realistic costs VS actual profit, and yes your man hours have to be considered as costs also your $$$ tied up during this time frame, which you are now on 5 months and it does not appear that she is ready for the water yet, based on your recent pics posted. I am sure you will respond and say I am wrong blah blah blah, and you have plenty of room for profit. As far as your asking price when every nut and bolt is installed from what I can see as everyone else viewing this project here will be your issues., not trying to be a dick just letting you know what I see as a person who has bought and sold many, many boats. Same things we are all thinking...... Especially FF.. Why I feel you will NOT get close to $47,000.00 For starters you are 1/2 way thru the season and a lot of buyers are gone. I do not think this thread is going to help that is for sure. I do not see external steering on this boat. Dash needs to be redone. that black gauges look horrible it is at least 2-3K to do it right. I am in the middle of doing mine now I do not feel engines are big enough, I am running 496HO's and hit 65MPH all day with the occasional 67MPH, this is with bravo XR drives, if you can hit those marks I will be surprised. Not fast enough, I want 525's for next year.... TRS drives and trans, although I have nothing against them still a drawback for a lot of guys. Cabin interior that old red cloth and carpet on the walls, need I say more. Hopefully that piece of red carpet you installed in cockpit is not your permanent piece. To each his own on the interior, but I am looking at that back seat and cannot help but notice that the strips from top to bottom are not the same width...What happened there? swim platform did you update the vents on the engine hatch, that has yet to be seen completed. trailer needs to be redone I wish you nothing but the best but if you can turn a profit working on a boat for 5-6 months you my friend are my newest hero!! Good luck bro |

Although I think this has gotten to be a bit much, I believe what you wrote.... ^^^^^^^ A lot of guys are thinking this but afraid to say it. |
I cannot agree more with this, I guess you word it much better then me so you wont get ripped! but I said all this from the beginning and many others agreed, I would love to see the man hours and numbers posted for this project, I bet there is no tally of man hours,...that has to count when it's a "business" deal. I wanna see numbers invested and a final selling price, after that I will eat my words if it sells for anything close to what he wants... old boats just don't sell easily PERIOD!
If I was Phil I would keep the boat and enjoy it....I don't know of any boat busnisses that restore older offshore boats and turn a profit...I know absolutely nobody that made a profit restoring old boats.... best way is buy one with no power or bad power, and a doner boat, build one out of two and sell off all the extra parts, then you have a chance of MAKING money. that is some non hater advice right there...

Who cares. Let him list and sit on it. Or sell it to a sucker.

The kid is learning a lot.... I like it. Time will tell what it sells for. I have friends tat flip houses.... Most of them did not make a mint on there first home. It's a learning experience. They kid has swagger.... His flame has been turned down a bit. I don't see a need to assault everything he dose..... A few sticks here and there are funny. But ****...

I got a question, a serious one. How does your regular job pay enough for you to have the cafe, pay rent in a shop, the dually, and be putting money into the cafe? Sorry dude your 19, it's not like you saved for 10 years to do this. So I guess what I'm saying is stick to what you've been doing because I can tell you from experience, whatever you do pays more than fixing boats.
|
besides the cigarette pics thread.... is there any other cig thread that is 34 pages and counting?....

I remember my first house flip, (not at 19) I was a nervous wreck the whole time , wondering if I`m doing the right things, tons of $$ on the line, bills piling up, wondering if I did the right thing, working around the clock to get things done..etc.etc
Im glad I didn`t have some a$$hole like FF breathing down my neck telling me all the things I~m going wrong and how it will never work out. Real classy. |
47k....ouch. don't think I've seen any cafe demand that kind of money since franks, which was 6 years ago. no offense to the cafe owners or the OP, but the market for cafes just isn't there. everyone seems to want top guns or better. I wish the OP the best of luck, but to get 47k is strong money. I'd be shocked if anyone buys at that number...just my 0.02.

Yikes! :nhl_fight::nhl_fight:

I don't need to fight.... Just wish some people had balls besides behind a keyboard.... He does not know me.... Maybe it's time he let's it go I tried a few times but I don't stand for people dissin me.... I never seen a bigger hypocrite then him .....

that is an ignorant question. i don't think it's anybody's business what he does to earn his money or how he spends it. if he chooses to waste his money on a boat like everyone of us, let phil be the judge of that. there's just some things you don't inquire about and that would be one of them, along with "how much dose that boat cost buddy ?"
He is now past his original timeline for completion, and how is his budget? I don't see him making a profit. Phil should just keep this boat for himself and enjoy it. |
Only reason I said or asked is that, if he can afford these things on his own now which I can't see happening, he won't be able to when he does these boat builds full time.
|
Man, what a train wreck.. Why do you guys even give a crap about what some kid is doing to an old boat?? Get a life people!!!

Unfortunately, as a cafe owner myself I think Moses is right. The cafe market is soft right now as I eluded to in my earlier post. It also doesn't help that these boats are old enough that they are cash boats now, and if I had 45k burning a hole in my pocket I'd be in the playboy with a small loan for the rest!!!! I hope he does get 47 for it because comparatively that makes mine worth more that I paid for it almost a decade ago!!!' |
Just like politics many OSO users are "voting" for the "Phil aka 315duramax" based on commercials not really knowing ANYTHING about the background or why we are voicing our opinion in a negative way against Phil and his NON PROFIT funded by daddy illegal boat customizing/boat hauling/ lawn care business.
IF....IF.....IF 315duramax was just a regular user on here showcasing his private build we would all have a different tone. EVERY USER supporting 315Duramax please answer these questions with a simple yes or no. If you were shopping for a similair boat would you personally buy a boat he has worked on within the next year? Do you believe he will make profit on this boat? Do you think 315duramax can handle the original restoration customizing project of a wrecked 46 Skater hull he bragged he was going to complete before this CIG? |
No
No And a big No No money to made restoring boats .. As stated by F F Only way is to have donor boats use what u need and sell off the rest I did a lot of it .. There's a reason I stopped |
Phil, you should have bought a MISTRESS . They ride much better than the cafe, 38 flatdeck and top gun. Amazingly apache like solid ride
|
Mild I can't speak for the Cafe' or Top Gun guys , but the Flat Deck guys here may not necessarily agree with you . Just saying .

Rick G. He got to telling me about his mistress (which I never asked about) and how it rides better than 38 Cigs and more like an apache. And how 90mph boats can't touch him on Lake Erie |
Sorry Mild my bad , I figured you were busting them , I was just feeling left out . :)

The 38 flatdeck is an outstanding riding boat!

Ok, this is getting out of hand guys.. This is just a general reply I don't have time to answer people specifically.
I know exactly what I'm in this build at and it's no where near what anyone says I'm at. Just a quick answer in regards to man hours.. If I had hired hands yes I would account for man hours, but seeing how it's only me.. Whatever my sale price is minus my bottom line cost is, equals profit on that boat. But it's a write off business, anyone who owns businesses knows you have one business to pay the bills and one for expenses. All of my fuel is a write off, my shop rent? Write off, fuel in the boat to go boating,m... Write off because I'm advertising the business. Now get off my dick FF and offshore exscursion. Call it illegal but everyone does it. Every poker run I want to do is a business expense. In regards to what I do, it's none of anyone's business, I've been fortunate to have made good money mowing lawns for the last 10 years. In a LEGAL business. The only part my father has in my boat is coming to Long Island to buy it with me. Ya maybe a few bucks here or there but if your going to say daddy's money your foolish. But hey I've been dealing with it for a while. I posted an ASKING price because if I didn't post a price i would have had to have my email blowing up with this bull ****. Yup, I was over zealous saying how quick I could do this in the beginning. I think I've proved a lot of people wrong on my skills of what I can do. If I still haven't convinced you then I welcome you to see the boat at the shoot out. Also, this is a forum... It is filled with finatics, mechanics, do it yourselfers.. Not everyone who owns a powerboat is on this forum. People who pay top dollar for boats like these just to enjoy them to turn the key and crush waves and turn heads and put it back on the lift. They don't give a damn about what size pully there is or what pitch prop. Or who did the damn interior if it was a small shop or XT.. Ok not everyone but a lot of people really don't care.. Just like cars... How come a low miles corvette with some look good parts from a dealer is worth arms more than a molested vette with huge cams, lifters spray etc. Because most people want something to just use and not **** with. But this is a forum so everyone on here likes to screw with their stiff. We like to change, modify etc. So what someone is willing to pay for a clean mostly original low hour cafe and what you guys think it's worth are two different things. I have and will continue to learn and appreciate all the opinions and tips from you guys it's helped more than most can imagine. I have made awesome connections with people willing to help like Dustin and Tim. This is my first boat, on my own under my name just wait till the next ones. If you think that I can't turn a profit, then so be it, I know that my bottom line I could give the boat away and break even. And FF your just dumb if you think im going to publicly advertise my bottom line and then what I want for it? That's selling 101 bud. And no I'm not keeping the boat because I get bored I like to change it up and try new boats and toys. Ya I'm a young kid with cool stuff I know there's people that don't understand how or don't like it. Most 20 year olds are out partying when others are partying I'm in my shop working. But damn guys you gotta let it go. And ya as to the interior the stripes are a little wider than the seat and I'm not happy about it I'm not using at the lake upholstery anymore. Yes the trailer is getting painted I just haven't gotten to it yet. Yes the carpet is snap in as we'll as new carpet in the cabin. And as for the cabin interior it's mint, personally I think it's rad that's it's all original and how many people actually use the cabin enough to want it totally redone? Nothing's moldy or stained it's rad. Yes you can find more boat for the money sure. Some people won't buy my boat cause they think I'm clueless. I'm not advertising a project nor selling one. But thanks. Of I wanted to swap motors and drives into a different hull and have someone do my interior and call myself a boat builder id change my name to FF  |
How fast is it Phil
|
I need to mow lawns apparently, cuz fixing boats can't buy me **** like that. And I don't have time to have a "write off business" hell, I don't make enough to live and do all the things your talking about writing off. If you make that much mowing lawns I want in.

But thanks. Of I wanted to swap motors and drives into a different hull and have someone do my interior and call myself a boat builder id change my name to FF  And as far as my boat? I bought a clean hull that didn't need paint, used engines from my Baja THAT I BUILT myself... Had a real interior place do my FLAWLESS interior (my stripes match) and now have another set of engines that I did from heads up and will refresh the shortblocks myself when needed I didn't pay someone to rig my boat like you... I can paint and have been since I was a kid but my boat has 29 year old gel that looks great so why paint it? I do way more things myself then you have so far so again you don't know me kid... You couldn't even get te boat running without paying Tim.... Enough said 👍. I am happy with mine and don't plan to sell it so I'm good!! You won't post numbers because it would show most of us right but that's ok the people with experience know what the outcome will be.... And I thought you had it sold for 60,000??? Oh ya.... That was bs right from the start!! |
