Rob I came in here because I was thinking about your project. So happy for you!! It looks amazing. So jealous!! Good luck.

offshoredrillin 09-18-2019 07:46 AM

Thanks guys, i have to admit when I was getting it ready I had a huge nervous knot in my stomach, I'm 3 years older and climbing all around it was painful especially since i had a bad reaction to Lipitor a few weeks back and my ankle is still a little jacked.. But as soon as I saw 90 I was happy and knowing that once I tune it some more and get the right prop it will be more fun.

Thanks, Chris Dilling gets the credit for it, I thought the orange was going all the way across the back. he surprised me with this and youre right, its different enough to look awesome.

it looks absolutely fantastic! Looks like a tequila sunrise or 50/50 bar. Makes me want to sit on your swim step and have a beer! Lol

Getting winterized, was able to get it out 3 times and it runs an amazing 92 with the tune and i know it needs bigger props... I ran out of time with work and ish going on... so the cabin gets done this winter, had a small punch list when i handed it to Mitch he laughed and said that's awesome, easy peasy stuff... one i get Frank to pull the tune, we will tweak it over the winter, I have smaller pullies for the whipples and prop testing.. either a 30 or 32 bravo one, or the same in the 4 speed to see how it handles them both...https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...6b20f18953.jpg

Hmmmm, that halfway sounds like an early opt out of The Rendezvous.
Do not even try.......

I like how your lay out pad is elevated up Enough that is even with the hatch. Mine is recessed.....

I made sure that it went up to match and added foam. with the curve of the hatch it still stops stuff from sliding off because of the contour.

Awesome Rob. Kudos! You deserve it!!!

F-2 Speedy 11-16-2019 07:43 AM

I have a couple sets of props that might fit your configuration, let me know if you'd like to try them come spring time......what are you currently running ?

it seems to like stock props, right now i have 30 bravo 1's... i want to try stock 32 bravos (i tried 32 labbed and it was a slug getting on plane, those are for sale if anyone wants them 700.00 for the set) i then want to try the bigger diameter 4 blades from Brett in both 30 and 32

I had some foam made that I put under there so that the cover runs the rain off......

If the 32's were lab'd by Merc, the stock will most likely take 'more' to turn them - not less. You may consider running a set of 4 blade Hydromotives. They typically run bigger than Mercs. Hope that helps!

offshoredrillin 11-17-2019 07:42 AM

the labbed was way too much slip getting on plane. they came off a 38 ts gun.. i think it needs the diameter to get moving.. ill check into the hydromotive.

Its difficult to compare our two boats with weight and bottoms being different but I think we're running about the same power, labbed 30's work fine on my boat but I've not rung it out yet because of the new engines, I also have a set of Mercury labbed 34's to 33's that are in pristine condition, come spring time Im gonna do some full pull's and get a base line and go from there, I may run out of prop and need to go to a 1.36 grearing, your boat turned out amassing hope to see you @ LOTO

Quinlan 11-18-2019 06:05 AM

Great Job!

I have noticed that I have to trim the drives out more w the w the SCXs v XRs. Mine are on Stellings boxes too so that may be why.
I also just ran a friends set of 5 blade 29 Herrings end of this season and boat Really liked them- of course you are on a different bottom.

I'm 850 per side right now, with tuning and more boost ill be at 1000. which is what i had built them for. I know i need more diameter, and more than likely more pitch... Phil had always told me that straight bottoms tend to run better with non labbed props, and mine seems to. i don't think ill have a problem turning 32s or a bigger diameter because i can hear it on the rev limiter. so pulling it and running at 56-5900 i should be good. hopefully it will be the first straight bottom with bravo style drives over 100, i know there were a couple with 6's but i havent heard of one with imcos or bravo style.

F-2 Speedy 11-18-2019 08:03 AM

you running Whipples ??

offshoredrillin 11-18-2019 09:37 AM

yes 4 litres on 509s with afr heads

offshoredrillin 01-16-2020 09:12 AM

More upgrades to make life simpler... MDC drive sync, no more guessing if drives are at same level... this was one of the first ones set up for IMCO scx..

Man, you should sink it (and let me know where) I would never run a boat without shiny snooters, nor should you. Beautiful redo, I hope it brings you many years of speed even if the blowers aren’t making proper boost ;-). Well done!

YTown42X 01-17-2020 05:35 AM

Completely awesome. Well done.

speicher lane 01-17-2020 06:18 AM

That is a sexy Cig (even on the trailer). Well done.

speicher lane 01-17-2020 06:22 AM

With the repaint perfect, blowers and elbows polished up - it seems the front of the engine dress is the only thing on the boat "stock".

Wishing you a completely turn key year - you and your family have definitely earned it!

thanks and you are correct.. but its so hard to beat the stock serpentine setup. its just so perfect. i could probably polish them. But I'll leave that for the next owner. I have my eyes on something bigger, so if anyone knows anyone looking let me know. it wont be cheap but it will be worth it.. Cabin is getting done to match cockpit as we speak.

they are at 7.2 now, the party pulleys are in boxes right here should take them up to just over 9lbs boost. they go on in the spring and Frank is going to tweek the tune. i know there is plenty left in it. I want to try the 4 speed props in 30 and 32 pitch.
