Very Nice Rob !

I can't wait to hear the Beast running !!

offshoredrillin 04-05-2015 05:46 AM

Thanks guys. I really like the low valve covers. But through talking with others some are sayin the unpainted ones from hardin are good. Anyone have any suggestions, not sure if i am going to switch, but always open for options..
i have no idea where we are going to end up power wise, i know where i want it to be. I was at 650, any guesses?

I used the Hardin painted ones they seem nice539491[/ATTACHgetting ready to take mine to Eddie Young to have them dynoed and setup, as far as Hp, mine were 500 efis, now there 509s, with AFR 335 heads and crane 691 cams, Eddie didn't build them but he said they should make 900hp, I would think you should be in the 750 range..:poopoo:just hope my XRs hold up for a little while...Joe

TWIN-SPINS 04-05-2015 09:23 AM

Would spacers work for you...?

jbraun2828 04-05-2015 09:24 AM

Wow, that mystique is going to be a rockit. Would love to do what both of you guys are doing with the whipples and excited to hear the results. Good luck to both of you.

mine are 509s with cnc afr 335s. 741 cam with dual swap (8.1 firing order) 8.6 compression, with the 4.0 litres and 8 lbs boost... Most estimates are 900-1000... Bob Madera said i could fall face first into 1000 if i tune it properly.

i like the looks of the hardin and the way you painted them.

offshoredrillin 04-05-2015 09:35 AM

Oh joe, put the teague billet caps on your xrs, they are pricey but i feel they are one reason my xrs lived so long as well as drive showers.

Oh sh*t I didn't know yours 509s with all the goodies, Bobs right I would think 1000+.. Rob your right I'm going have to look at those billet caps, I have drive showers, but all the reading about bravo xrs and them blowing up, got me thinking about imco scxs or Bmax drives, but all time I got in this thing so far, I just want to see if it floats, even if I don't get it going I'm going to take to Anchor Marine launch it; tie up to dock, and sit at the Nauti Goose and drink all day.....anybody want to trade Bmaxs or SCXs for XRs:party-smiley-004:
By the way love the little cig, that's going to be a fun boat, would love to have one...

offshoredrillin 04-05-2015 06:17 PM

I sold my transom assemblies and uppers to offset the cost of the new imco transom assemblies and scx uppers. Dave sat down and figured up a pkg deal that benefitted us mutually and the deal was done. The people on the bay are lucky to have an honest reliable shop so close. Im not the least expensive shop for what i do but i offer quality and fair business and i look for the same in who does my work. Quality is worth it.
Both boats will be up in NE this summer...

dont underestimate your xrs, unless youre launching it all the time. They likevt stay in the water and run well deep.. high x dims are what kills them.

harleybagger 04-05-2015 08:00 PM

Hey Rob! I'm coming on Thursday to get the Cig... Are you going to be around?

offshoredrillin 04-06-2015 05:31 AM

I should be, in the eve on thursday.

i am, going to start w 30p bravos. With the drives being kind of deep im hoping it works. Im working on anothe rset of lowers to blueprint but the stock ones will give me a baseline. Honestly the boat responds well with stock props, the only reason i had labbed was i needed the rpms, now with the whipples that shouldnt be an issue.

Looking good now bolt it up !!

hope that helps. I hear the t/s need some help because of high xdims, that they are "stuck" until thry break loose.

richanton 04-19-2015 08:45 PM

Why the decision to go with new transom assemblies? Why not just use the upgraded Imco Gimble ring?

I was thinking the same thing, they do look a lot beefier though

they were the original assemblies that came with the boat. Even though they were in great shape, im going to be hanging heavier drives, helmets and stuff on the back as well as much more horsepower and torque. I just felt that someone with a smaller boat and less horsepower would be able to get more use from them. I also had a friend that had scxs broke a gimbal ring and nearly sunk. Everything from imco is engineered to work together. I like to overbuild and be safer.

I put the Imco SCX's with XR lowers on mine when I repowered with the Zul's and adding the spacer helped. Then I changed the lowers to the Imco SC lower with a 1" spacer and boat was acting strange. It did not want to get on plane and I lost speed. We removed the spacer and now it pops right up on plane and gained 3 mph. Go figure. All I will say is there are a lot of variables so there is always dial in time needed. Rob the Tiger is going to be awesome! Can't wait for the end result. Good luck!

offshoredrillin 04-21-2015 05:43 PM

Thanks frank, im excited as well. Step hulls like high x and straights like drives deeper. The big difference is how a t/s acts while getting on plane. My boat has always popped right up with tabs down and drives tucked so im anticipating the same just a lttle less tuck with the hp/tq and bigger props.

also as i mentioned earlier in the thread craig at wilsons said the xr is the more hydrodynamic of the 3 lowers, maybe that had something to do with the spacer difference between xr and sc lowers.

1.9hp/ci is totally doable especially with a Whipple. Plus if Butthurt Bobby says so it must be true! Good luck.

been a while, new transom assemblies... Uppers bolted to the lowers, should be in the next couple weeks. New tool room springs and oil pumps as well

I would agree with this. Also, when can we go boating instead of looking at parts on the internets?

I agree, BUT Im a things done right guy... seems every time i rush it bites me in the ass... I'm also in complete trust of Dave at MDG, new springs and shimming as well as oil pumps take time and he runs a marina full time. Quality matters more to me than anything else. :)

frickstyle 06-23-2015 09:50 AM

Just teasin', after 4.5 years, I just wanna run my dam boat!
