LOL!!!! I thought about it, but now she's too old, she's in her 30's. Time for a newer model. :D

Anyway, back to divison1's great build thread.

Ordered my blowers from Gary went with power coated black 871. I’m doing the black moter thing I may even have my headers done in black as well we’ll see. My new platform is all solid billet then we powered Coated it black then went back in and machined out all the centers it came out real good I’ll post some picks we did the same for the new inner transom assemblies.

Those look awesome!!! I’m not sure powered coating 15k worth of headers is smart but then after all not the smartest lol

Also working on putting ford electric power steering on the diesel golf cart. Usually work on it for a hour before bed every night lol. Springs coming fast !!!

division1 12-21-2019 07:37 PM

Talked to my powdercoat guy tonight. did you use hi temp coat ? He said there is a black that will hold higher temp but it is not as shinny. And if prepped good he assured me it would stay on. I’m just concerned about falling off we’re they mount to heads ?

Konrad makes these boxes with steering looks like a nice set up kicking the idea around. Not sure if they would help or not

Full Force 12-22-2019 07:24 AM

Lol your killing me dude haha

offshoredrillin 12-22-2019 08:17 AM

i believe the konrad would bolt right up to an its box as well. just keep in mind every 12 inch setback will lower your drive depth 1 inch unless you use a specific box to raise it.

no it will not. Konrad has a trs and Ssm replacement that uses there own helmet for each. Nothing about a Konrad bolts to any bravo parts.

division1 12-22-2019 09:11 AM

Copy thanks !!! The boat ran really well with out them got on plane nice. Not sure exactly the benefit of boxes ?

offshoredrillin 12-22-2019 09:26 AM

i didnt know that about the konrads good info. boxes are supposed to put the props in good clean water. on boats with no notch transoms sometimes at speed the water was coming up too far back for the props to bite, hence extension boxes. some boat mfrs say their boat dont need them, i think thats just pride. with the set back though it changes the ctr of gravity which is why the prop line drops.

I did not specify anything special. Just regular powdercoat , has been holding up fine so far

division1 12-22-2019 09:49 AM

Good news on the headers. My transom does have a notch. I may really consider those boxes looked like a clean set up. All parts are ordered for engines working on getting them together. Once I get some glass work done witch will give me a lot of time to think lol I can decide about those boxes.

Run the boat as-is for 2020, boxes may make it porpoise (if it doesn't already), under 70mph. I ran next to your boat and was impressed with how it ran. Nice and flat in bumpy water cruising at 65-70. You can always add the boxes next year. You're changing alot all at once so it may be hard to determine if the boxes "did" anything for you.

Just my .02cents

payuppsucker 12-23-2019 08:44 AM

I agree with Justin, with all the changes you’ve made I would hold off and see how it reacts to what you’ve done so far.

OldSchool 12-23-2019 04:00 PM

Just read this entire thread. You've got one hell of a project goin on!!! Merry Christmas to all!!

As long as the props aren’t completely wrong for it, the boxes will actually help with porpoising. But with the speed this boat ran for the power it had, I’d leave it alone.

division1 12-23-2019 05:07 PM

Thanks guys good points !!! Leaving it alone !!! Drive wise did a time of grinding cabin is all ready for new material. Hopefully have that all glasses in and gel coated over x mas break I got a few days off

Full Force 12-23-2019 05:47 PM

Glad we talked today haha one step at a time...!!

division1 12-29-2019 07:51 AM

Had to take a few day break needed to get steering done on the golf cart used a Ford Focus steering column that has the electric power steering built in and then used a Chevy hhr steering rack. It drives so much better steers way easier and turns sharper. All I have to do is build the column wrap going to use sheep metal and use the break to make all the pieces and tiff it all up. That today’s project then back to the boat !!!!!

phragle 12-29-2019 08:42 AM

I dont know how your going to use that but if its going to be run hard... think about something different for steering. You want the tie rod arc to fall in line with the a arms or you can run into a lot of bump steer. The rest of the setup looks like it can have some decent travel. Then again if your only planning on using 3-4" of travel and not 12" its a mute point.

division1 12-29-2019 11:19 AM

It’s a ball stud mount at the rack. It will travel as much as the suspension will. It is a on road cart only as we use it our campground. We don’t use it as a side by side. Just a people hauler.

Safe to say this tank was leaking. Foam was soaked in fuel can’t believe I never had any smell.

Made some progress fuel tank stringers out.

division1 12-30-2019 08:54 PM

So I was really getting depressed that boat was so torn apart the other day but after I found that fuel soaked foam I was kinda happy in a weird way made me think it was worth it cause with ha omg the family out on it all the time and the kids friends I want it safe as can be. I’ve seen to many boats burn. Almost ready to start weeks of grinding and glassing I’m new material

division1 01-01-2020 06:48 AM

Happy new year fellas. Back to grinding and cutting my boat apart what a way to start 2020😂😂😂😂😂

Your dedication to this project will reward you! Easy to lose interest but imo a cleaned up redone cig is awesome to see. Keep it up and thanks for keeping us posted. Happy New Year!

4 hours later a few carbon blades on the isolatior tool 12 pack of Pepsi and a lot of thinking “what the hell am I doing” I got all the port side cabin stringers out

division1 01-01-2020 07:07 PM

Anyone in the Cleveland area have a few screw jacks I could use for a few weeks. I’d like to put a few more under it to make sure it’s supported real good before I glass new stuff in

frickstyle 01-02-2020 07:14 AM

I have four sitting not being used if you need them.

what type of trailer do you have. mycos are built for the bottom and support it fully, if you have one let it sit on there. you can level it with jacks and have full support. When mark at rage did my tanks and he cut the floor out the boat it snapped back into shape, whomever did the second set of tanks put it together under a bind.

kvogt 01-02-2020 08:07 AM

Make sure you support that hull well. The trailer is not enough.

division1 01-02-2020 08:51 AM

OK so this is been my biggest concern now that every stringer is cut out of this boat right now I have 2 stands at the far back 2 stands midship in the keel sitting on a block in one spot towards the front my trailer is a bottom support bunk trailer that does seem to have a lot of areas where it supports the boat is it best to put it back on trailer if I do that I cannot use stand anywhere or do I just use for stands for side and try to support the Keal. My concern is what if the trailer is a bit unleavened or not built to square the boat ran very well before and the bottom is blue printed so I would like to not glassy hook back into it lol I was thinking just a bunch of stands get a supported and go from there

division1 01-02-2020 09:10 AM

Frick if I can use them That would be great!!!

kvogt 01-02-2020 10:03 AM

What I did was probably overkill.

I used 12 stands and supported the keel in three places.
I only worked one section of the boat at a time, so I didn't remove all of the inner hull support.

use the trailer as your base as the full trailer will be much sturdier with cross gussets, or see if someone has a myco for a top gun that you can borrow or rent. put the trailer on the stands (tires off ground, or pressure off them) to create a solid platform. level the trailer on the stands, similar to a frame stand in a car shop.
