I know someone with a Myco, but... it’s holding my boat lol
Frick was nice enough to let me barrow stands I have a total of 5 per side and the keel supported I’m going to try to laser the bottom and make sure it’s straight. All the foward stringers are but out and it’s mostly ground and ready for new.

Way to go man, love the perseverance and dedication on this one. Thanks again for the AC unit, it's been on my list for a long time!

After about 40 hours of grinding and sanding it’s finally ready for new stringers and bulk heads no on to woodworking class lol !
Well chop chop sally need an update
Well working ally these days I built some carts to slide it around the garage. Had to take a break to get the camper and golf cart ready for summer. Doing a big of work to the jet boat cause that’s the only thing we’ll have this summer in the water 😂
More updates to come finally back at it. Got the camper and summer toys out to baypoint ready for summer fun so I’m back on the cig. Will post some pics soon
any updates?
Keep them coming
Not to hijack your thread OP but you mentioned Baypoint. I'm in FLA now but I have friends that stay at Baypoint every year. Small world.

Well it’s been a very long few months. Due to some frustrating times I put the boat build on hold a few months back and been hard pressed to get back at it. you ever get something so far apart and wonder if it will ever float or see the water again ? Kinda were I was at and also had a hard time figuring out what direction to take with power that was a hole lot of back and fourth as well. After getting our weekend lake place set up and being out at the lake the last few weeks I have found new motivation to get back at it I cleaned the shop the other day and got it rolled back into the center ready for more dust to be made. My next big task is finding someone to make me a new fuel tanks and getting those in I’m ready to put in all the bulkhead and stringers up front and get that portion done that will be a big step and once the fuel tanks are in will be a large step done I feel like anyways lol. I had to take a few weeks this winter to redo my cart steering well that turned into a few months then this covid **** happened and so on. So let’s get back it and I’ll post some updates thanks for checking in !!

I need to stop in soon once things slow down over here

Got all the materials for stringers and bulk heads today time to start making patterns
Going to do the entire build with the Coosa board after a lot of research and talking to dave we will drop a significant amount of weight it building materials and should be stronger if done correctly. With that cabin set up as a race cabin and a full Coosa lay up and aluminum headed engines and smaller fuel tanks it should be one of the Lightest Weighting Topgun’s on the planet lol time will tell Gia is 85mph with conservative run on the dash board engine’s
Plan is 85 mph with conservative engines
Curious on how you like the Carli suspension... I just bought some progressive front springs for my truck. Waiting for the country to open back up so I can get some ladder bars for towing. Trying to stiffen things in the rear up a little. You are doing a fantastic job on the gun project. I don't envy you playing in all that grinding dust. Seems like I itch for a week anytime I visit Dave. LOL
There good so far I do a ton of heavy towing I have rear air bags big traction bars and in the front it’s all aftermarket 30k on the rebuild and seems to be good. Ate one set of front wheel bearings but the wheels have big offset so that’s to be expected. Every 20k I rotation of tires and wheels bearings and all new pads it’s like clockwork lol
Ive been eyeballin some tubular front control arms. Ive taco'd the originals up before. lol I just don't like how the truck pulls right now, feels like when I mash on it, it feels like the rear wants to skate around like its dog tracking or something. I know its all tight and in line. I just had some front end work done and I specifically asked to check the thrust angle.

OK working on building some fuel systems from scratch for the engines air motive 1000 pumps I know i need to cool I’m looking to build a billet aluminum box to run water through and the fuel pumps and regulators I want to use all an fittings and make it mount to the offshore mounts has anyone done this or have any pictures of some custom set ups?
Ok spent 6 hours grinding in the cabin area working on getting it ready for new stringers. What a job lol! Decided after talking with Dave I’m going to do a coosa lay up throughout. That will save some more weight and if done correctly will be stronger. I think it will be the lightest Topgun in the world lol no cabin only wood in the boat is the transom and engine stringers. Everything from there up is coosa board. Shorter fuel tanks. And lots of aluminum on moters.

Lol well I guess that didn’t come out of my head correct. I meant a box that houses the pump and relay and run water tubes in the box to cool the pump. Lol guess I’m not good at typing lol
A water cooled fuel sump with an in tank pump in it?

New product 2017 Fiberglass Foam Core Panels, fiberglass foam board, fiberglass sandwich panels for wholesale - Manufacturers and Factory China - Tasuns Composite Is coosa better or lighter? |
Well from what I understand this blue water 26 board that we are using is super strong they say as strong if not stronger than wood. It is a solid core material so it looks a bit different from your product. Not to sure about weight the board were using is extremely light compared to wood.

Run a return line to your tank, fuel continuously cycles. Look at my setup, I think it's what you're after, and it's simple; Pickup - Fuel/Water separator - Filter - Pump - Filter - Distribution Block (To carbs w/ outlet) - Regulator - RETURN TO TANK That should be all you need! Are you thinking of Cool Fuel used on some Merc Fuel injection setups? |
If anything would build a stainless coiled tube then encase that in a stainless pipe the you flow seawater through and stick that between the filter and carbs
Carb engines don’t vapor lock as bad as efi does mine are efi. So making something similar to the cool fuel.
I have to with go with frickstyle, I'm MPI and use common rail, so after the fuel rail regulator, excess goes back to the tank
I use to VL, but no longer |
You have a mpi set up efi and no water cooled pump ? That interesting I would love to do that just always heard they vapor locked real bad ?
My original was a regular 502 MPI with a VST, and it did VL. During repower Eddie Young drilled out the rear of my fuel rail so fuel goes in on top side of rail. The Reg bleeds excess pressure and sends it out the lower half. The fuel exits the lower half back to the fuel tank. No more VL, and this is the regular Gen 2 cool fuel which the pump is on the port side motor mount. The reg on the cool fuel is not used, or actually not there
I’ll have to look into that is like to use the least complicated. Need to feed 700 hp efi.
So down in the cabin where I have cut out all the bulkhead stringers and the supports on the walls that held interior pads instead of grinding off all the tabs in to make it smooth I figured out a screwdriver underneath of it it pops right off so after 57 hours of grinding down in the bow region all the old gelcoat is all ground off the walls are smooth the floor is smooth it is already for new stringers bulkheads and support throughout Making my Coosa form board order shortly and hoping to get all that done before it gets too hot out it will be nice to have that whole cabin area all done in Gel coat
Getting suited up for round 873 of grinding 😂
I just went back to the beginning of this thread and realized how far down the rabbit hole you've gone. Man, mind boggling how much you've done and how much you're going to do. The thing looked pretty much perfect before, I just can't imagine how nice it's going to look when you're done.
Yea it really escalated very fast. Out life style had changed in the terms of how we use the boat know. Instead of sleeping on it every weekend we leave a place to sleep know on the weekends so it will just be a day boat and island runner so I decided to make it everything I ever wanted. And redo everything I ever often wondered about like is that fuel I smell ? Or is that stringer wet under the cabin ? Lol so when she’s done she will be completely new and ready to run hard for many years !!!! I hope ......
