5 years ago today I brought her home https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...c285257c0.jpeg Look at gas prices then !!! #fjb |
Indeed, I wonder how $4.00 per gallon gas will, or is affecting the boating industry and in particular used boat prices. I am not optimistic, but lets hope gas prices begin to moderate.

We’ll definitely hurts the wallet lol. I have never in my life seen old cigs bringing the money they are currently bringing. I have seen a few flat bottoms with some minor updates bring well north of 100k this summer. Crazy I do think things will drop I don’t see how this can keep up ….

We have a cabin door entrance https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...2bbfad8e2.jpeg I can see some light at the end of this tunnel https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...35447b0593.png Some design work for the foot plates on the pods https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...5a6c2e3c7.jpeg Door trim time |
So after about 8 hours of installing the the pods and the step door marking it all up and looking at for a few more hours I finally cut the entrance out. Need to find a place to make the plastic trim that goes around the door. I have down patterns of anyone had a lead. Getting some cool stuff made from the machine shop for plates and logos. Going to mock up a moter tomorrow and put in to check hatch clearing
|
She is looking really good at this point. For the cabin entry cutout, can you have your machine shop make something out of aluminum or steel?
|
I’d like to use the the polished plastic trim the factory ones use. Never want any type of steel on marine. If all else fails he can do aluminum but I’m pretty sure I can get the plastic stuff . I had it made for the boat when I had the old style door but that place went out of business.
|
Any updates....?
|
Yes been super busy lately we got a lot of little stuff done On it’s we got door rails in and working that took time to get all working nicely. I made new molds from the finished pod pieces as well so I have ones that when you make pieces require almost no post body work. They also will fit the straight bottom hulls better know that I have them all trimmed. So that took some time. I have a buddy with a Topgun that would like a set and he’s cutting his liner out as well. I will continue the updates
|
Dave let you borrow his molds, so you splashed them and are making parts for other people?
|
Not sure exactly who you are but let’s get one thing straight mabye before you go making Accusations those original molds were made at Dave shop correct from pieces that I brought out from a boat that I was working on and i as well helped make those molds and spent many hours of time creating them as well as Dave himself and yes Dave was going to keep the molds in the end The boat that those molds came from we’re in my shop and I Disassembled to do some work to and we both needed some parts and for your information since you know everything I made molds off my pieces that were fit to my boat after all the body work was done. But glad we got that straightened out. I wish him the best making molds to sell from them. But don’t tell me what I can and can’t do with parts I spend many hours on.

24 hours to edit posts... stopped people like sunkin, too old etc who went back and tried to delete their existence here so there was no written proof of the lies.

speaking of, and sorry to derail, but how are the 6’s coming along? I was hoping to have them before I have to take the boat to get the transom done. I wanted to mock them up because I have no idea wtf I`m doing when switching, I`m a visual person so.. They are still in Florida, my chance to have someone throw em on a truck fell thru and the seller has not had a chance to put em on a skid and get em ready for shipping . If you see just the drives for sale do not be alarmed, I found a set locally that are a wet set , brand new in the box from Mercury , i`d like to sell the ones I bought and pick up the brand new set for a few bucks more .We will see if that pans out . Thanx for asking |

I'm sure you know this but you will pick up about 4-5 mph with the dry sumps vs the wet sump on most hulls, not sure on a straight gun. I think half of that is due to the better skeg design on the dry sump. Plus some of the parts inside the wet drives are getting hard to find if needed. Personally I'd stick with the newer dry sump drives, unless they have a lot of hours on them and need to be rebuilt.
|
I`ll have to disagree on that.
If I can quote Dan (Team Archer) ' you`ll see a gain on a cat maybe but on a heavy V bottom irrelevant. Dry if the pump takes a dump the entire drive is done, also no lubrication in reverse, also not really "dry" since the bottom half houses the pump and oil. I prefer wet sump. |
On the bad ass work - I too find this to be the single most interesting thread here... I must have missed the pictures. Keep the you tube videos coming too. I love seeing people do what I just don't have the balls to try. Your work is awesome, apparently there are some haters out there that need to be ignored!! Keep the pictures, videos and updates coming.

Put trs drives on it it will go faster 😂

Of course I am not telling you any of this:) |
