Got the floor extension and bulk head all cover in a layer. Those pieces are all ready to get all glasses in the boat ans cover with som more layers. I’m going to cut the original floor back in front of the new pods and put a permanent piece in then glass a few layers over the hole new floor pieces. With my new tanks being shorter I have room. That will make the floor really strong and have a nice new strong place to mount the new pods. It’s coming along slowly. |
Ok got some more materials back to work!!! Found a guy local to me that had some vinylester resin in stock so I bought have a drum to finish every off prolly have extra but I’d rather have enough lol hoping to get floors glasses in and bulk heads done this week !!!!
I gotta take a ride over with some beers...

Got the first layer all wiped down with cleaner and sanded with 80 rolled in a second layer of white gel with wax in it cured real nice. Going to sand with 150 to get smooth and spray the final coat of product in. https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...a8f2e9671.jpeg First coat of filler https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...46a686a5f.jpeg Ground flat ready for filler is https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...e1e948ac1.jpeg Bulk head going in some more tabbing and a few more pieces and she will be ready for gel. |
It all started three years ago, I couldn't imagine tackling a project of this size, great work hope you're on the water soon
Yes it’s crazy it really snow balled but we have a 25 foot jet boat we use every weekend so least we’re on the water in the meantime . I’m hoping next season she sees the water 🚿
Love it!
You would love it a hole lot more if you brought sand paper over and sanded …….
Are you finishing the forward/cabin area in the same manner as you did the bilge?

Jesus I can't even imagine a project like that. but boy do I want to keep checking in on the progress. when does the YouTube channel start ?
Each time I check Boat Trader and see an old Top Gun for sale I think of this thread. I then get into reality and realize that a project like this is beyond my skill set. Keep posting here and on You Tube.

Put 2 smaller pieces of tabbing on each bull head. Let that dry came back in and used a oscillating cutter to cut out a 1/2 gap we’re bull head was sitting on the floor. Know it is a fully floating bull head I’ll use 3 layer of tabbing to fasten to hull and floor. That way when it flexes witch it will lol it won’t crack the any of the outside of e boat. https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...4b58c5671.jpeg Few hours of filler and block sanding. Rolled one layer of gel coat on after that cures I’ll block sand and see if it needs any touch ups. https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...ddc92a18e.jpeg After filler and sanding I got a coat of gel on the under side of hatch. Not going to crazy with it. It’s way better than it was it’s pretty smooth. |
Here is the thing when it comes to talent and capability I’ll look comes down to is how much time you wanna put into it and Research research I am not a professional at any of these things but through some research guidance and the whole Lotta patience you can do any of this some basic handtools a good air compressor and sometime you can do any of these tasks there is so much information online nowadays and once you learn the mix ratios with a cheap harbor freight scale your good to go. My buddy is working on his cafe in his driveway under a tent lol. He’s doing stringers and stuff .the biggest thing this project has taught me is patience. I have had things come up in life and work all through the build as we all do but I’ve learned not to hurry the project along. I work on when I have time and money. And slower it’s getting there. I have learned to not cut corners and eventually it will be done I encourage anyone to tackle projects if they have the desire and time!!!!!

It may not look like a hole lot but after many hours in the cabin at this point I don’t even know how many all the glass work it done all new stringers and 3 fully surrounding bulk heads. The deck is so much stronger know when you walk on it . Stringers are 2 inches thick it really should be a wave crusher on Lake Erie. Going to put it all in white gel coat for know. Mabye next year out the bed in between the first and second bull head and some interior panels . https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...f82198790.jpeg Started the process of making bad panel for door https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...6e7c300c3.jpeg Clamped a piece of angle on the door 2 inches in and air filed up to it. Ground down 2.5 layers so I can wrap the glass around from the back panel then complete body work |
Looks good - is it ready for paint? What are you thinking in terms of paint? Colors and look?
So boat is going to be all white . Black logos all black cleats and hardware motets will be all blacked out. Black carbon gauges and trim rings. Just trying to decide if I want to go straight white or white Pearl/ from the 2018 Chevy pick up
I vote pearl....
I vote pearl!!! I also like carbon fiber dash panels - although may be a problem with the carbon gauges.
This is looking better by each post! I am hooked, cant wait to see it come together.
I was thinking Pearl to !!! Was a little worried it would look a little blochy with the Pearl but I really like the idea
Pearl!! 100%!
I was thinking that to with all black logos and black out all accessories it’s nice to finally see this project round the corner I know it’s still got a a lot to go but getting the glass work done is a hudge step

Ground down 2.5 layers so I can wrap the glass around from the back panel then complete body work I think I may have said this a few pages back but if I had the opportunity to redo a cabin, I’d do it like Phil does his with the basic benches between the cabin door and first bulk head and then through a zipper two lay down lounges and a porta-potty / changing room. Or even instead of the lounge beds, finished storage area. I dig that set up. Little more user friendly than just a vee birth bed. https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...1c20faa41.jpeg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...7cda89c9e.jpeg |
Yes I agree 100 percent I plan on that for sure
I’m going to get it all on the water and running then just drop it off next winter to get the cabin done
ooooh I like the bed set up that`s different, put some more storage in there, maybe some kitchen cabinets and a closet . :D
The space between the cabin entry and first bull head is going to be short once the new bull head is in. Floor extension and bulk head going in the weekend that section will be fender storage with the billet fender holders and Ropes
