Your assumption is correct Phil,I am Graham Stevens ,keeper of raceboat nostalgia,as Marco and Nigel will testify,in fact Nigel will fall off his perch at the thought of me actually posting a comment in.The two U.S. films you mention will not be on the Boatmad site as I have no copy of them.Tim Powell obtained them from Betty Cook and we ran them through at work and handed them back.All before video copying,but looking back I should have made film copies.It`s only now in the age of internet transfer of information that all this stuff is now becoming worthwhile.

not only Nigel falled off his perch but me when I saw "flying fish" come back on OSO!
However also in Italy somewhere still lying some old sport offshore documentaries.
I remember to have seen in the early eighties a sport documentary sponsored by the petrol brand Mobil about the 1975 Italian Championship season.
Find it is like to find a needle in a straw-rick.

Thanks for your kind words Phil.The model is 1:24 scale.
There are many more films that could be put on Boatmad,right up to the present,but it is governed by the time the people at Boatmad can devote to putting it on the web as well as storage space.I`ve already given them a headache with the latest batch,but I know they are keen to create a good library of offshore.One thing that has not been put on the web although Boatmad have it ,is the listing of builders boats (ex-names and details) which complements the race results. At present I am working through a file of photos to complement these listings.No doubt I will put Marco on the rack to release some of his obscure boats in the course of the next few months.Are you watching Mr.Clouseau!I have him helping me on the CUV listings at the moment.Better than walking the streets.He is a real godsend,a devotee if ever there was one.I`ve yet to come across a U.S. equivalent but no doubt Nigel will put enough bait out to lure one to the surface.

However as soon as ready I will send you' the corrections.
It seems that we will still have to update also the list of the Bertrams 38.'.. the tail of the Panther is loosing again.

Looking forward to your next batch of photos to fill in the missing links.It`s amazing the more data I accumulate, the more I realize how many areas need tidying up,especially when Marco gets his magnifying glass out and spots different signwriting on what you think is the same boat,and that opens up another can of worms.All fascinating stuff.

Having watch Graham' s film on the 1974 Season (more than I should have maybe), I have noticed that the blue Eraf is running with carburettors engines.
I would have thought that in 74, injection was wide-spread and reliable. Any ideas on what could have motivated De Angelis' choice?

As late as '79 I won the Bushmills race in California with a boat using two 1050 carbs on each engine....reason...more horsepower and better reliability.

Remember fuel injection at that time was still not controlled by computers.

I tested at Lake X and the best results were with the two four barrels over the injection of the time. I was also using an outside engine builder...McBetts...who really could get some horsepower from a set up that they were very familiar with.

Mercury tended to stay with what worked until they were beaten and then they innovated again.....not Mr K...Mercury themselves as a corp.
