I only know one side of the story...so what I would try and do is work it out somehow as each 42 or each boat is sold to get a certain amount coin. Do it through an attorney and get it worked out where you are happy plus some interest and loss of boating. Yes, it's unfortunate, but it's better for them to be in business in these hard times to make sure you get your funds. Also put a lien on the 42 or until it is sold..so you are a private owner in it..Honestly Ive been through this with a Motor Co/wanna be boat dealer in Lousianna...it's best to try and work things out before the attorneys make all the money.. Good Luck.

Concept 07-14-2008 01:55 PM

Concept is expediting this matter as quickly as possible with our insurance company. He reported to his insurance company but made the choice in lieu of getting payment immediately from his insurance company to go after ours to get paid. Ours is taking their sweet time for sure; all insurance companies of course do not want to pay. Get his money from his insurance company and let them battle it out. Regardless of any cash position, we are not going to build him a new boat and wait to see what happens; take that anger and make your insurance company write you a check!

robbyd3 07-14-2008 02:27 PM

I have called my ins. company 4 weeks ago. and just talked to them today to see if they will pay i am doing everything i can to get them(my ins. company) to pay. TRUST ME i want this resolved and i have never looked for a pay day. luis told me five weeks ago that i would have a boat in six weeks \ I EVEN HAVE A QUOTE FROM THEM
please do not speek for me as you dont know what i am doing .

robbyd3 07-14-2008 02:31 PM

I will give the name and # of my ins. company and you can call them yourself and see
the boat was in your possesion
ITS BEIN 7 WEEKS!!!!!!! YOUR COMPANY BROKE MY BOAT....

Sydwayz 07-14-2008 03:22 PM

Robbyd3,

If you can get paid from Concept's insurance company, let me know. I've got a friend that is a new Glasstream dealer here in VA, and has several boats he needs to get rid of.

Concept 07-14-2008 03:58 PM

I am not speaking for you, I am repeating what you told me in our last conversation and in one of your conversations with Luis because you were afraid your rates would go up.

BUIZILLA 07-14-2008 04:21 PM

if that boat was being towed by a Concept truck, regardless of who owns the trailer, Concept and it's insurance company needs to pony up... that boat was in specific care, custody and control. I smell a stall tactic....

ROADHOG 07-14-2008 04:50 PM

If you are insured through Progressive hold onto your ASS because you are in for rough RIDE!!!!

Steve_H 07-14-2008 05:16 PM

call your states insurance commissioner . insurance companies get put under the microscope by the commissioner's office in these situations and they will have to jump through hoops to get you satisfied in a timely matter.

For the love of god, I love hearing the dirty laundry but... Do you see any other boat builder responding to customers on this site. It looks very unproffesional and I would of just assumed there was two sides to the story. However you cleared it up by reinforcing that your driver had the boat. Bottom line is your driver is responsible. Send him another similar concept to borrow until he gets paid.

agree'd and i also DO NOT BLAME HIM FOR NOT WANTING HIS INS CO TO PAY...his insurance company shouldnt be involved at all unless it was his fault. Bro what you need to do his contact his insurance company yourself, get the insurance comm involed and it will get resolved...

Jupiter Sunsation 07-14-2008 09:22 PM

Wow, I thought Dollabill was the only guy that got the shaft from Concept.

This is the Jim Darr of boat companies, everytime they pop on here the buyer/their client gets hammered in public and nothing is their fault. Concept was better off not having a forum/ they didn't get the chance to stick their foot in their mouth!

blume 07-14-2008 09:45 PM

???????????????????????

Turn it into your insurance company, they will pay you in full and go after _oncepts insurance and your rates won't go up, let your insurance company fight it........................ with the cash settlement go buy another CC fishboat, it doesn't have to be a _oncept??

First, I'm not going to say one bad thing about _oncept so lets get that out of the way and, for the love of god, please don't say I did. I just want to offer some advice.....

Rob file a claim with your insurance co. Then have your atty follow immediately to make sure the claim is paid in a timely fashion. The statement earlier about your insurance company going after theirs is correct.

I've was involved in many situations like this when I had my business. This is the best way to handle it.

Once you have it resolved, contact Blume and he can find you a great boat.

I thought it may have been the one that bounced off the seawall in Highland Beach a few months back.

Did that dealer in Pompano near the Catholic church on US1 go out of business? National/Yacht Auctions seemed to have a few Concepts on their lot last week.

robbyd3 07-15-2008 08:35 AM

ROADHOG 07-15-2008 01:06 PM

Was looking into buying a 36 with Trip's, I think I'm going too hold off for a while. Saw a 34 Fountain with Trip's and looked great without the motors on a transom bracket.

i would have turned this into my insurance and let them (my insurance) sue concepts insurance. their truck and driver pulling it their fault you would think. this shouldnt be considered a bad mark for concept though. stuff happens

FeverMike 07-16-2008 12:46 AM

Geesh I see nothing has changed here with Concept
best of luckrobbyd3

...and it will out run and out handle the 36 Concept plus get better fuel mileage.

Lucky Dog III 07-16-2008 07:26 AM

Having owned a Concept and now a new Fountain 32, there is no way I would EVER go back to owning a Concept again.
Susan and Luis are nice people but the boats break and performance is mediocre at best.

Ask the guy with a 38 Fountain with triple 275s what the 36 Concept with 300s did to it up at Boyne Thunder last weekend in 3 to 5s!! We even stopped by Harbor Springs to let him pass us then proceeded to pass him again.

Everyone is entitled to there opinion but it looks to me that you were waiting for the Concept Forum to be put back up more then the people that own Concept. Seems like you have nothing better to do than bash Concept and the people that build them, sell them and in some cases own them. Get a life Mike and move over to the Fountain forum and brag to them how your boat is so amazing!!

No way a 36 Concept will out run a 38TE Fountain in big water...absolutly not...I know as I have put many hours on both.

How do you figure that I am bashing Concept and the people that own and build them buy saying this?

It is boat talk, true facts and you need to grow up and accept it and get a thicker skin around here. In a close chop the 36 Concept does great but put some good holes in the water and some swells for get it with the shorter and lighter weight Concept.

I have been off OSO due to work and travel for around 4 weeks. I looked around the forum some but was not logged in. I am glad I am so famous that you track my post's...makes me feel wanted and that you missed me...thanks!:ernaehrung004:

I don't even know you except from your constant negative posts on OSO. I apologize for saying get a life! I don't know your life nor do I care but how can you say that you never bash Concept or their people? "Guess nothings changed at Concept". Why even say that and every time someone asks a question about Concept or a problem you jump right in with your smartazz comments and talk about your amazing Fountain. Fountain makes a nice boat but they are 2 different style CCs. I don't track your posts just always noticing your BS comments about Concepts all the time.

The guy bought a Concept and had an unfortunate accident one no one ever wants to do with and I feel for the guy and hope it works out for him soon but you have to jump in a Concept Thread and talk about your amazing Fountain. Why don't you butt out and stay in your Fountain forum.

And yes the 36 Concept did run great this past weekend and the waves up here in our big pond are not like the swells in the ocean. They are steeper and closer together so we were able to get on top of them and run faster. Maybe you should come try it sometime since you are a master at driving both. You must have so much experience on a 36 Concept with triple 300s. This weekend was not about top speed but how a non step boat with a 8' beam ran tight in the water and sat on top of the waves very strong!

can't we all just get along......:drink:

Lucky Dog III 07-16-2008 01:23 PM

It would seem to me that Fever Mike is not bashing but rather pointing out that several others have had troubles with Concept just as Rbbyd3 is experiencing. Personally, Susan and Luis made good on my boat but at the end of the day it shouldn't have broken.
In addition, some of us have moved on and are expressing our pleasure with our current boats.
These is no manufacturer that has not had it's troubles but the difference is how they handle it.
IMO Concept should have a replacement boat in the works for
Rbbyd3 so when the insurance check comes in they will have a happy customer.

DollaBill 07-16-2008 01:44 PM

1. A 38 Fountain will simply outrun the 36 Concept. Period. I've run both in lots of diff conditions. Thats me on the cover of Boating Magazine June '06 running the first 38 CC Open Bow Fountain. What the pics don't show is that I was running that boat for the helicopter in SOLID 6' WALLS of water out of Port Everglades (Ft. Lauderdale). Once I had it dialed in I was able to run almost 30 mph. That was impressive. I would not have tried to even plane a 36 Concept out there.

2. This thread is off topic. :)

I am sure it will but in our situation it didn't. The guy bought a Concept and had an unfortunate accident. This thread is about him getting a new boat or his fixed and insurance companies dikking the dog. Not about a Fountain being a better boat but Mike always brings that up and is constantly stirring the pot. I guess it's all in the driver and how big of balls you have!! Hopefully the situation gets resolved and he gets a new boat.:D

CJ thanks for coming up. That boat is cool.
I seen John R taking pics. of the Lambo parked next to the boat outside my condo

Good Luck

Had alot of different boats and friends with many different boats, they ALL have issues of some kind. The bottom line is how they are handled. I have had issues with Concept and they were worked out eventually. They will make it right, be patient. I know it sucks, but keep it between the parties invlolved. Make it public after it is resolved, good or bad. Just my 2 cents.
