Thank you,
Yes, I figure the 710's and Arnesons should be a pretty bullet-proof combo. |
That would be great - thanks.

Yes, I was fortunate to hook up with Mike. He was a great guy to deal with. And so is Jerry. He's rigged more Fountain race boats than you can throw a stick at. I think he's really excited to be working on something other than a Fountain race boat for a change. I can't wait to see how it turns out. Thanks again for the pics. |

The first few ZRCs were built side by side based on the F2 factory class rules they raced in. Donzi always planned on building the staggered configuration after the initial run of F2 race boats. That is why the engine compartment is the way it is.

Still trying to come up with a graphic for this thing. I like the all red boats but a red deck is just killer in the summer time. Anyone have any graphic ideas? Ridefast, is Morehead near the river. Do you guys get enough waves up there to even get any air :)

well its not far from the river, but morehead is right on the coast so the ocean gets some OK waves:lolhit: yeah it gets big some time but my girl b**ches at me if i open the boat up at all:angry-smiley-038: but sometimes you got to do what you got to do :drink: but then i pay for it. lol

Stay Donzi old school, solid color! I love the all red with black accents.
Would it look dumb to have the sides mostly red and the top mostly white? |

Thanks, I am partial to the all the red boats. I even like the solid Red Ferrari boat.

I looked but I couldn't get past the first paragraph without thinking why complicate it but I quess that's why I'm not rich I'm not much for complicating things that are simple.
|
I would love to see a deep red or burgandy hull side and deck stripe with either a silver or black boot stripe and edge striping of the center deck stripe. Old school classic two tone that never looks dated. A Donzi version of the Cigarette Playboy.

Thanks Tom, I'll have to pass that idea on to Ryan to do a rendering.
Just back from a long trip to Kentucky. Sold the Fountain today, it's on the way to Penn. Now it's time to do the Donzi :) |
Congrats on selling the Fountain! I know they always say it is the second best day of owning a boat but I always find it hard to part with..... even if you are moving to something better. I got a real emotional feeling this summer when I was on the Chesapeake and I met up with the owners of my former boat. It was really cool to see the Kryptonite, see how well it has been cared for and to raft up with it for the afternoon.

I love the look of the MTI Concept.
I was thinking something like inverting the red and black of the 009: Center deck stripe, not offset. I also love the G3 ZRC. |
There is a reason why there are only a couple ZRC's with different colored decks / hull sides. It's tough to pull off because of the lines of the boat, especially in the back.
The G3 boat pulls it off with complimentary colors. There is another Silver boat that has a white deck and Donzi lettering in Red. You'll notice on that boat the painter pulls the silver way up high in the back well past the rub rail. The two different color scheme will almost always not fit quite right when looking at the back of the boat, especially the 3/4 rear view of the boat. |

Some before and after pics on cutting down the engine scoops - and a pic of Mike's boat from yesterday's Sarasota run.
Looks great Mike. |
scoops
That hatch and the scoops look way better cut lower, is jamie going to stagger them?....looking good
|
Mike's boat is the one I was talking about with the sides painted higher than the rub rail. Whoever painted it knows what they are doing for sure. That boat is a sex machine. :hitit:

Thanks. Did you see the pics from Pete B's thread? I cannot post pics otherwise I would. I think they really show how cool the old school Donzi paint scheme looks.
I'll copy and paste them here later. |

The best part is that we ran that number starting pretty far back in the pack of boats, meaning, through wakes and crud. No bobbles; pure freight train, and it does that in the rough too. The ZRC is truly amazing, and I swear, it feels like it can easily handle another 20 mph. You are going to be so happy when yours is finished. |
