I thought George from All American Drive Service was supposed to be coming out with his own fabricated gear clusters for the Bravo One XR's---at least that is what he told me back in January of this year----has anyone heard any further news about these?

AADS opened up the drive. Took it all apart and did a throrough inspection. Says everything looks brand new. Says they cleaned everything. Sent cases to machine shop to confirm measurements are good. Gonna replace all the bearings. He said the bump rings were scuffed but not enough to turn the oil black. Gonna put it all back together and send it back.

will keep you guys posted.

Did they have a reason for the cauliflower on the magnet?

no. They inspected gears, bearings, clutch, shafts...they couldn’t determine where the metal came from.

said all the parts inside looked brand new. No smoking guns...

Welp we got the drive back..threw it on yesterday. Went for a rip...initially all seemed ok.

The beginning of the day consisted of small 5-10 minute runs with periods of no wakezone. At each no wake we checked the reservoir. everything was good.

we opted to go for a longer ocean run, 30 minutes. Upon getting to destination oil was at the fill line. Thought no issues, probably worked out some air bubbles. Filled it to mid point. Considered this to be normal.

ran the 30 mins home checked resevoir at next no wakezone, oil was almost overflowing out of the bottle. Not sure why the oil is fluctuating all over the place. Never had this issue in the past. The port reservoir hasn’t moved an inch.

After 5 minutes of no wake, the oil dropped back down to mid point again. To me there still seems to be a problem with the drive. Not sure what to do at this point.

went down to the boat last night, popped the drive and went thru all of the shifter adjustments to rule them out...

1. set 0.25” cable length from helmet of transom assembly using the spacer tool
2. set 7.75” length barrel nut to tip of shifter
3. Set shifter throw using Mercruisers tool (neutral, forward, and reverse)
4. Measured 3” from fulcrum to sliding pin

i even ran engine on a hose and shifted the drive by hand to make sure neutral position was set properly in the detent...everything lined up perfectly.

note after doing all of this...I didn’t find anything to be out of adjustment.

will continue to run boat and monitor the situation. If it continues to be a problem, drive will have to be sent back again.

Have been running boat now for 6 or so hours...kept temp Gun with us to verify oil is not being overheated. Seems ok...oil level not fluctuating.

winterized yesterday, pulled plug nothing on magnets. But the oil was full of froth and bubbles. oil color was slightly off. Darker than normal. Still not sure what’s going on with this drive. If we have an issue. Other side had no bubbles and was perfect.

will take some pics of oil when I can...
