Nowhere near that far gone FYI. And my Velocity factory paint never did suffer from the problem, and the repaint had no issues at all, nor did the last Fountain and all were painted with the same PPG base/clear system, as was the present one.

This might be my "selective" memory here again, but I seem to remember your new Formula having some paint on the windshield frame problems, and some other issues that required a trip to Fast Foreward for some attention. Little wet sand and buff deal, I admit nothing you did, but in need of some work. I guess in my case I could not control the prior owners care anymore than you could control a dealers care of a leftover yard piece.

As far as Imron goes, have had two face to face conversations with the area Dupont paint rep and he would not commit to the Imron system holding up underwater. He stated that the system is not designed for, nor could he recommend it's use in that situation. Essentially the exact same thing that both the local PPG rep as well as the Company expert have told me. It's all a crap shoot, sometimes it works, sometimes it just don't.

Why fault me because I have the ability and knack to do this work on my own? You sent yours to Fast Foreward for the buff up to get rid of the chalk. Why would I spend my money to have someone do what I can do myself.

Lets just get all this paint chit in one place.................

Rip..... had some chit that Fast Foreward worked on, and some windshield frame paint that was coming off that needed to be dealt with when new.

Axa...... had his at Fast Foreward for a buff job to deal with loss of gloss in the gel coat or whatever you care to call it. I Have even offered to help/show my good buddy how this is done if he was willing to invest the time and effort.

Hot Stepper...... has paint that is focked up near the fuel vent for some reason. But chooses to live with it as it is. Oh well, to each his own.

Got Twins....... has a great looking boat, but does suffer from crazing, his term, in the paint. Exchanged many PMs and phone calls with me last winter about what I was using for products to put the shine on the Biotch. Which by the way I shared with him though I had never met him in my life. Right Jeff?

Bird....... have heard him mention lots of hours to make his boat look it best. Must be that same pride in ownership that also drives me to put all the time into getting mine to the point I can stand back and tell myself "Lookin' Good". Kudos to you Bird!

Me.......Well some dumb a$$, other than me, must have done something wrong when the Biotch was painted. This problem was apparent when I bought this boat and the dealer was up front about it, we came to an agreement as to the dollar value and they delt with it. I don't care to live with it as it is, so I am having it repaired. Not a single one of you have not had some issue that you felt you wanted to take care of.

So I ask you, other than the fact that my boat is a Fountain, what the Fock is the big deal here?

being a leftover with another 353 ahead of it sell, the dealer chose to leave my boat shrinkwrapped rather than see it become an amusement park for prop kicking "wannabees"
(and no, I don't intend to go back and edit that term out, when that's what I meant)

anyways...the shrinkwrap no doubt trapped a certian amount of moisture between the plastic and the w/s frame which discolored (darker) the metallic that Taylor sprays the frames with
as well as the stand-off blocks on the side of the boat left "scuffs" on the hullsides after nearly two years wrapped
and having been almost 20 mos. since production to service without a proper "waxing" of the deck, (just ozone attacks/fades unprotected gel in that amount of time) I thought could have looked better...and being a new boat, a Formula nonetheless, purchased from a Premier Formula dealer...
well, I figured it was worth a phone call to see what could be done for me.
Is the Formula ownership experience all they say it is?

2 things...

NONE of this was a Formula "quality out-the-door" issue.

All I said was "I'm just not happy with the appearance" and the response I got was...
"got a shop in mind?"
"go to town till your happy and have them bill us directly"
(try that with Fountain)
so yup...
with that in mind I had it detailed including softening the edges of the clear around the "Formula Racing"...
that I doubt very much another buyer would have had a problem with, but I am VERY particular as you know, and the door was open!

so in essence the boat left Formula in prestine condition I'm sure, the finish and build quality was all there the day it left
has been detailed once 5 years ago
and still looks new inside and out.

and like I said prior
no upholstery work to correct poor-fitting vinyl
and no paint needs to be sprayed on this Formula twice the age of your Fountain.

a boat, I might add that has spent the equivelent of a year and-a-half slipped in the water.
