Anyome else stuck at work this weekend? Suns shining 80 degrees and I'm stuck at the office all weekend long
Boats still in the drive way with the shrink wrap on it. I guess the plus side, I don't have to worry about washing the bird crap of it. |

I'm on shore for a while longer as well with a little glitch, but I'm putting my time to good use. You're gonna' need to do a lot more than wash the bird crap off it before you show up here this summer. Spent all last weekend, a pair of 9-10 hour days, 10+ today, and likely another 9-10 tomorow puttin' the shine on a Velocity. Believe me you have your work cut out for you! By the time it's done it will likely be 100+ man hours. I know I can get a little carried away with chit at times, but wait till you see Pete's 32, his boat is F'n awesome now!!! Only thing in the boathouse that's going to out shine it is the Black Biotch. Damn, I do love it when a plan comes together! :drink: P.S. You may be the King of the River, but I am the undisputed King of Shine! |

OK I'll give you that title. SO Pete's boats going to be looking good this year, I didn't think it looked all that bad to start with. But then again a little extra never hurts. Mom said that most were back in the boat house this p0ast weekend except for the Pete's.
It was oxidized real bad, deck and hullsides, and that's a kind descreption! The Petes were in the yard finishing up the boat all weekend. Looks better than new, he's real pleased, makes it worth the effort to get it there for him. Had to wet sand the deck from 600 all the way up to 1500, the buff the chit out of it with Fast Cut followed by Finess-It. Then did the entire deck again by hand with 1500 and re-buffed to get it where it needed to be. Then wet sand the hullsides with 1500 and buff out. Then two coats of wax on the whole boat, just a little project. Between the two of us close to 80 hours in two weekends, plus he has another couple days wet sanding smaller areas to get it ready to buff out. Plus he has the windshield off to polish and then reinstall with a new gasket. If you do it right it takes some serious time, people wonder why it costs so much to bring a boat back into shape, run our hours at $60-80 per hour. I do hear things are off to a great start @ HBW, as the Boathouse Turns 2010. |

By chance is the windshield gasket the same on his as mine? I could use a new one as well along with a couple of the screws for where the side meets the front. Get my cell number from Mom or my sister or Axa. Give me a call, would like to discuss more. Thanks
I'm 99.99% sure the gasket would be the same. Nothing special, just a 1/4" X 3/4" to 1" strip of foam with stickum on one side. Probably get it at Lowes or the Depot. On Pete's boat it had come un-stuck and slid out of place and looked like chit, so he's repainting the black at the lower edge and replacing the strip so it looks right. Call HBW, they might have the screws and the little rubber inserts, they were forever falling out. Just put a dab of adhesive caulk on them when you install them and you should be fine. Oh, and chamfer all the screw holes so the gel doesn't crack, any more! Did I mention Pete's detailing the cabin, cockpit, engine compartment, and has been polishing the props. Even said over the weekend that he might have at the trailer once the boat was in the water. I believe I've have had some sort of odd influence on him!!!:lolhit: |
Sounds like his boat should be looking awsome. What order are you installing the windshield front first or sides? As for the foam falling out yup, mines been there for a couple of years, been shoving it back up in but one long run and its right back where it started. With the wife down at the moment I guess I have a little extra driveway time and might have to take a break from work and get er done.

All I can tell you is that, when asked, my suggestion was to do the sides first then the center and reverse when re-installed. The windshield has been entirely Pete's deal. I think what happens is the adhesive breaks down after a while and then the foam begins to wander. Pretty simple fix, and not a big dollar deal. And yes! It does look awesome, you will chit when you see the difference in this boat!!! The look on his face the other day when we finished it up made all the sweat and effort worth it. Nothing like seeing a renewed sense of pride in one's toy. :drink: What's up with the Wifey? Yours Truely, The King of Shine |

What's up with the Wifey? Yours Truely, The King of Shine[/QUOTE] Basically she had an out patient Gall Bladder surgery that went south, sending her to Henry Ford. 4 ops in 5 days the last one 10 hours by the liver transplant team. Staples have been removed drainage tubes next. Things are looking better just need to duct tape her to the couch so she'll finish up the healing process. If anyone needs any gall bladder or liver work done let me know I got a guy :drink: although if I don't like you I may send you to the first one:drink: |

A friend of mine is still messing with the deal. He went in for the simple ortho deal, gal bladder had attached to the liver, they had to do it the old way and he's still recovering. His problems started back around Christmas, surgery was well over a month ago and he has a way to go yet. Tell Cheryl that we wish her well, soon! |

Glad I'm not in Cheryl's shoes I would have blew all the staples out :lolhit: Sure will give a whole new meaning to the "King of the River" Run. Does this mean we need to change it to the "King of Everything Run"? Naw just doesn't sound the same. Good One Dave:drink:

I'd say you've nailed it pretty well. Scarabboy hates that dung beetle stuff.:lolhit:
I believe it was you that looked up "Scarab" in Websters and started the "Dung Beetle" stuff. I was only guilty of running with it. :lolhit: |

Get in line! Mine should have been "Undisputed" King of Shine. Reggie has tasked me with the unseating of the present holder of the King of the River title. So we need to decide on a date that this event will take place, establish rules, or perhaps the lack of any? Might be Steppers call here in that he is the current title holder. My preference would lean to a run what you brung event! No cryin' towels allowed. Soooooooooo when? |
In keeping with the past tradition and having the run coincide with the Kingston poker run, and since it is the week of the 6th looks like we'll have to schedule it for the 6th of August. I'm still working on the this years rules, I'm sure they'll be in my favor:drink: so lets see first run I won by default, second run I won by have the most chicks on the boat...hehe stealing half of the participants :drink: yup theres pics to proove it. :lolhit::boat::boat::boat:

Sometimes in life you come to a cross road, when you just have to man-up and get the deal done. Simple, basic, run what you brung! No more of this cry me a river, I won by default, most chicks on a sunpad chit. Walk the walk or talk the talk, your call! |
I can't believe that no one started the "When will Ragged put his boat in" pool yet?
There has been some interesting hardware in his slip lately... Pretty quiet down at that end of the boathouse. We've been out quite a bit. Pushing close to 8 hours this year so far...Heading up tonight for the weekend. I heard rumors that there will be 30 boats for PRA Saturday, including Aqua-Mania with the NEW turbines! Dave |

Dave Well for the last two years I have been in and running by mid April, on and off the trailer, but in none the less running. This year I decided that being in the rentals in the July and August heat is not where I want to be. As of yesterday I have all but one knocked out and done. Biz wise we are also close to over running the painting crews on both the dorm units I am doing this summer at SLU. I may take the time tomorow to pull the drive and get it up to HBW for the re-fix to last falls fix, which was the fix to the mid July fix. Honestly, the boat has been the last thing on my mind lately. It is ready, except the drive adjustment, to hit the water. Was that way a couple months ago, such is life! Smart money would be on the 4th weekend, assuming last falls "fix" has not resulted in more broke chit. By this time last year I was 20 - 25 hours run time, and not even in my slip yet. Never going to happen again, I have Jake working on bettering a deal I have going on a spare set of XR's. A man needs spares, and I aim to have me some! Soon!!! :drink: |
