Well you missed it yesterday, weather in these parts was close to perfect. Boat got wet for the first time this year, one water pressure gauge has the reads off flu, other than that it ram like a mofer, end of the day it tagged a nice nine two in a real small 6" chop, bunch of nine o's earlier in the day on dead flat chit. I see numbers like that I know all is well. Need to research the water pressure gauge deal, works ok but just starts out and reads way high.
Looks like the boathouse deal may be for August only this year, next couple weekends look like trailer deals down on this end, ran into some friends out yesterday and had a good time running around my childhood stomping grounds. |

yea yesterday seemed ideal what I saw of it around sleeping between shifts.
wife and kids are out of town so the animals and I had a pretty sound nap the wonderful double whammy about it is that not only was I cut off from weather like that, but that same weather assures a steady nighttime volume of "extra special idiots" in the ER! |
what the hell happened there?

so anyway I thought I should put new belts on as these are the originals and 12+ years old. They don't see the heat breakdown as in an automotive app, and look fine, but a silly reason to be down a motor somewhere.
seventy bucks apiece "discount" pricing for "OEM" labeled Merc on the net, with a little cross-referencing and a coupon code for my advance auto accnt, got two Gates W-profile aramid fiber replacements for 46 bucks shipped to the house! Keep in mind they are 111 + inches circumference for my app. anyway they'll be here in the am as it turns out so I throw them on... on another note wanna get me one of those Hellcats! 10.8's 128 bone stock auto (8 speed) on drag radials, 11.2 similar trap speed on stock Goodyears... Screamin for the largest (5 seater) heaviest, most comfortable, best riding modern musclecar! This car is getting everyone's attention! |
well that didn't pan
those Dayco belts are an inch plus too short even with the alt right up against the block. advertised as the exact length spec of the stocker 111.25" OD (advertised) NOT! probably cheating on length to save $ as on a loaded tensioner setup in a car wouldn't be noticed, but on a fixed system no-go. EDIT: looks like I need 5061130 advertised as 113 in.(advertised) or 2830 mm, cause an inch+ is about what I need. although 25 mm comes out to .98" oh well gotta go right by advance this morning anyway I'll beat this for $40 some odd dollars as opposed to the $140 for "Merc" labeled |
Maybe Merc has something there! I have a new source for Merc parts.. Shoot me a text if you want it!

FINALLY, the big only chore of the day is breaking in a new chamois mop!
boat runs well two-way average 72 GPS @ 5050 FULL load- fuel, water, gear, 3 people. only further hiccup was a port side shift detent ball, easy fix done yesterday morning. |
Wondering if the bridge boat folks have left the neighborhood, Samantha was in the Bay over the weekend and said she did not see the boat.
|
negative.
Mike, Kitty, and I wondered the same. They pulled back in Monday while I was there. Burned some fuel yesterday loop tour, Big Sandy for a couple hours. Gorgeous day for sure. |
|
Yes it is.

worst summer weather in a few years huh?
she's got the last week of the month off, we'll even bundle up if we have to and burn some fuel then I'm gonna call it a season. objective met, boat re-commissioned and all systems check out good next season will be easy, drop her in and go... been keeping busy sort-of- around the house and playing with other things overhead door conversion on the big building turned out mint, very nice form and function new wheels for the truck to change up the look lowered the Challenger and added a front strut brace just ordered a new helmet and a couple pair of goggles- got a new sled coming the dumpy cool fall like weather has got me thinking about that- can't help it. good to see you Peter. Stimulating conversation as always! |

good to see you Peter. Stimulating conversation as always! Agree with that, sat here Saturday due to suck azz weather, made the trip up to the Bay Sunday only to have the day chit out midway, then come back late afternoon as usual, spent the afternoon viewing the dock offerings in Clayton, lots to see there, had a mid afternoon snack at the new hotel in Clayton, impressed to say the least. Did run into Capt'n Morgan in the Bay, good to see Jeff and Sandy. Hope to get the next couple weekends with some decent weather then it's back into the barn for the Biotch, maybe next year will be better. |
Hey guys,
In case you don't get the email, the 1000 Islands powerboat club is planning an event: On Saturday, September 13, 2014 between 1:00 pm and 4:00 pm, there will be a gathering (rain or shine) of past 1000 Island Boat Club Members (and perhaps some perspective new members) at Bonnie Castles' waterfront bar, now called "The Pointe" (and formerly known as "Rumrunners"). The purpose of this gathering will be to reunite, discuss the future of the Club. Obviously we are working off a rather old list, so we apologize in advance if anyone has been overlooked, and please feel free to share this message with other Club members whom you may be in touch with. Please plan to come as there will be many old friends, plenty of food, and much to talk about. The pizza, wings, salad, etc. are free and there will be drink specials available. Please respond to Nelson Symonds by e-mail. Be sure to mention how many will be attending so we can plan for enough food. |
Dave I won't make it due to work but would like to see a future for the club.
Hauling today actually. Won't winterize yet but if this summer was any indication there isn't much to look forward to weatherwise in the next 6 weeks. |
Saw Bob Briggs this last weekend and Kevin Peak. Might have to show up and see what's up!
Dave |
Hey guys...I know I have a lotta nerve asking this question, this time of year but do you guys know of anyone that might have clean dry storage for a 35 on trailer? Open to anything from Syracuse to the North Country (Preferred)
|
You might have come to the right place! Ask Rippem!
Dave |
talked to Briggs in Tom's office last week. Got the 411 on the "club" (final demise, closing out of accounts ect)
As far as the storage, no can do, just running out of room with further accumulation of "stuff" on my part. Down to just Tom's 29 and a couple of small fishboats/cars Most likely won't be doing any next year. All about winterizing boat, vehicles, house pronto so I can spend some quality time sodomizing my new sled at the end of the month.:party-smiley-004: |
buddy text me tonight about storage for a 3rd party. When I told him the no and why tale he suggested counseling for when 4000+ sq ft of garage space isn't enough. lol
|
Club will Live on.... some options and direction were discussed, but there was positive support not to pull the plug.
An election of officers will take place sometime next May. A Facebook page will be coming soon. |
Rippem and AXA thanks...deal ended up falling through so no worries...shopping continues
