Updated my exhaust issue in general q&A, thoughts?

RaggedEdge 06-01-2013 07:13 PM

Would a smart man take this to mean that you're still sitting in the middle of the neighborhood. Do the folks there ever feel like the Clampets have moved in?

Rippem 06-06-2013 08:39 PM

some premier boating weather thus far huh?

comfortable for wrapping up the work on the house but seems chitty for boating
I was getting excited about recommissioning...

5PMSMWHR 06-07-2013 05:01 AM

We splashed Wednesday afternoon. All good on the boat, interesting to see the Sumerlin boat house is gone, pile of sticks with a crane in the middle. We ended last season low on gas, was interesting to see the low fuel light blinking on the way in. Hutchinson's 91 No Ethanol, $4.29

Rippem 06-07-2013 03:29 PM

did they lean on it or did it go down itself?
Too bad lots of history I understand, gilded age dances and such upstairs
Pawing your way through all that petticoat must of been a PITA ;)

are there booms to contain all the loose lumber?

Impressive Mark, that is street price for that fuel.

RaggedEdge 06-07-2013 06:50 PM

So who is in my slip? Looks like it's you and me for the season, other halves included.

Far as the fuel, no ethanol is good, 91 is just a waste of octane and money, most of the marina needs 87 so why bother. Will it make the Dancers run like the wind?

Kelly O 06-07-2013 08:59 PM

Any vacancy for next weekend ??

I need every point of that 91, boat will be thirsty on the return trip past the castle. (Work & Weather permitting)

well aware of the (lack of) need for 91 and the wastefulness as most of what's out there loves 87 in terms of tuning, economy and running quality
problem is no one is processing non-ethanol 87 or 89.
Now that is a demand that would take off, especially when the economy improvements were noted on the street
E-10/15 biggest boondoggle and lobbying nightmare ever rolled out.
The pressure to stop paying them NOT to grow corn won the day, now the gooberment pays huge subsidies TO grow corn but has to find a way to get rid of it...at our expense x2
as my x used to say "sometimes the only thing worse than wanting something is getting it"
go back to paying them for fallow fields as far as I'm concerned

RaggedEdge 06-08-2013 10:19 AM

Might be a spot that that thing could rest in. Let me know, right now mine is open and not looking like it will be filled this weekend. Was thinking about taking the dock chit up today or tomorrow.

Pete,
There is a 27 or 29 fountain in your slip with dock box and fridge. Kelly, can't believe there's not room, there were still more than a half dozen boats still on timbers. Slow start compared to last year weather wise

On our way up shortly with the chit. Thanks for the heads up.

A little different perspective for me! At the controls of my plane and the cameras. Kelly O and the boys last weekend on Cayuga Lake.

Enjoy!

very cool Dave

Rippem 01-18-2014 10:51 PM

so who still owns a boat in 2014?

Dave, did Tom C. call you?
He asked for your # and it took me a few days to remember it as I don't have it written down.

axapowell 01-19-2014 07:47 AM

He did not. Should I call him?

Dave

Rippem 07-02-2014 09:21 AM

January? Page 12?
WTF?

Boat going in tomorrow. Slip is minted back to it's original glory and ready. Plenty of maintenance and detailing to resurrect her. Wrapping it today with cosmetics.
Anybody know the little formula in 14 next to me?

Rumor has it Dave will be around in August?

Rumor has it Pete is no fan of his neighbor?

Fact: that dog just bit a kid in the yard the other day- not good!

I've said it before and I'll say it again, the Marina (especially one without greenspace) and the boathouse especially is no place for dogs!

Absolutely zero against dogs I'm an animal lover, but get real.
I was down there last summer and there was more than one on a 5' leash to a post in the walkway. Great time for a dog.
Inconvenience and some possibly a danger to children (now proven).

Gonna get the kids wet. They are gonna love it especially the little one who's six in Sept. already standing, whacking it and pulling the skis on sled. You should hear her laughing out of her helmet when she does this, a real hoot!

older 23'-25' SR cuddy or a 'toon still on the agenda though for family hour.

Anyway who's in? Is the scene completely toast?

axapowell 07-02-2014 09:56 AM

That's the rumor for us!

My buddy Jay is in the Formula next to you! Nice guy.

Visiting this weekend without the boat! Will have to catch up!

Dave

Rippem 07-02-2014 11:33 AM

may see you Sunday afternoon if you still around.

Well, as things would have it you are correct in terms of my opinion of the folks located next to the slip that I have been in for some many years now. Will be stopping by likely on Friday to see what other offerings are available for the summer. Have no wish to be next to the **** pot for anther season, have found too many issues related in the past month of make ready to put the poor Biotch thru that again. Hope there may be another slip available, might be looking into a private boathouse, might be a new trailer boater.

In regard to the dog ,the F'er came at me last season and I had words with the owners, real simple, one more and Mr. Smith would be taking care of douche pouch. Probably not the best way to make friends with the new folks, but honest! I made issue with Tuckey, the Master of all things dock and chitters, only to be told that I was not the only one it had gone after, so WTF for you! If it gets you it is their problem! That fool felt that the fact they left the dog tied with 20 foot rope on that narrow dock was a real effort on their part and that I was being a real azzhole to be critical of the new folks. We brought the issue up recently, much above the Tuckey level, in respect to what we were doing this weekend and our intentions this season, were assured that the dog in question would not be on the marina property without a muzzle. Period, no F'n exceptions! Guess that deal just didn't pan out.

So who did the wonderful little doggie get a piece of? Not to be a know it all but I predicted this could happen, only to be told by the Master of Docks and Chitters that he had it under control. Right!!!!

Rippem 07-02-2014 06:00 PM

The way I heard it- 7-8? yo girl walking through with her father from the RE when the boat was in the yard.

It may look at me cross-eyed, but honestly I have the Kavorka and very, very few dogs do they can sense it.

it makes one step towards any of these 4 kids I'm introducing to the experience, well its gonna be ugly...
it leaves a mark on any of the six of us and it will promptly get body-slammed by it's hind legs and a broken jaw without a nano-seconds' delay

Had a girl about that age take a bite to the side of the face last weekend at work. Ripped her from anterior top of the ear to below her jawline. She got shipped out stat downstate for plastics...
but most likely scarred for life.
that will not happen...

not second guessing the commander with disrespect, it is his corral, and he's a dog guy.
but this seems to be an out-of-control policy, one I haven't agreed with from the start, that is, allowing dogs in the boathouse...(the ones that get carried back-and-forth to the boat in a purse would and have gladly flown under my radar)

Problem for him is there can be no discrimination between well mannered, personalized sporting dogs like Scotty and Mich? and this known to be less than trustworthy ROTTWIELER.
They all go or they all stay, and the hole has been dug now.
There is a fine line between alienating in this case one customer vs. many...or having some little one's appearance altered forever

You would think now that the dog has bitten, the owner is aware (as is everyone else), and the owner has spoken to the master about said incident, and allowing said dog to stay on premises, that the owner is opening the door to % liability if the dog strikes again.

a Rottweiler on a leash on the wooden walkway of the boat house in summer heat. Nothing bad could happen there...

Same Rottweiler pissed 'cause it needs to piss walking by us at the narrowest juncture in the boathouse to get out even on a leash means nothing.
A split second is all it takes. and that juncture especially with a crowd will make him nervous...

What I heard is the dog will now be leashed or on the boat? Does that mean as above leashed on the walkway? So what has changed?

NEEDS TO GO OR MUZZLED. PREFERRABLY GO.
Who wants their experience tainted by looking at a muzzled dog if that was the case?

RaggedEdge 07-02-2014 07:40 PM

Saw this coming, damn shame if a child was hurt.

We were told that the muzzle and secured was part of it being allowed. It did go after a few last year. The dog is not the only reason that I will not go into the slip next to them, just not going to go there.

Rippem 07-04-2014 12:53 PM

oh I gotcha- saw him soaking half the boathouse with both the leaky hose and the dirty water blowin off his bridge.

on another note, launch didn't go as planned. Pumped the tank DRY of old fuel, put the sender, wiring and access hatch back, filled her up, and proceeded to the travel lift all this dodging what was for the most part rain all day.

fire up starboard all is well.
fired up port- leaking water between seawater pump halves. Put the Hardin SS pumps on this time as my housing were scored/shot. My guess is the O-ring displaced as I put the halves together standing on my head in the 100* heat of my building. Busted my azz to get this thing re commissioned. Between that and a thousand other things work, family, last of the projects here, I'll just say I haven't had more than 5 hours of sleep a day in three months and often in 2-3 hour pieces. I'm toasted...
Bob offered to leave it in the slings, but late in the day, no tools, started to rain again, they are a SOB to work on and I gotta work a couple of nights now.

Thanked him profusely, but asked him to put the F'kin thing back on the trailer. I'll take it home and fix it first of the week and try again.

"We choose to go to the moon not because it is easy, but because it is hard".

Looking forward to the bruises and F-bombs of R&Ring that pump again!

Gotcha part is right on but just one of a long list. Anyhoo went up today, a side track on the GoPro buy mission, and checked out the available slips. Rather sad that after 19years, 6 bought and a chitload sold for the place, that I end up damn near out the far end of the boathouse. I have to wonder if it might not be time to rethink the whole deal and change directions. Did get a real nice tour of the birdhouse condos this afternoon and these deals have some real potential, think fireman pole into your boat then lite it up and go!

Got a little more detailed info on the incident with the dog going after the little child, not good. Someone is going to get an azz spankin' on this one if it runs out.

In any event did a big time load up on all the GoPro chit, this deal is going to be a hoot to play with assuming that I get the F'n boat in the water, and I actually figure out how the F it works.

Rippem 07-05-2014 03:34 PM

I was gonna be out in 46 (second to last right) 'till the old homestead opened up,
Wendy called and offered it instead- had to grab it. Don't like the traffic there but do dig the familiarity and proximity.
The new deck is nice farther out, kinda upscale in appearance.
Believed I could fuel in the slip (46), little traffic, and close to the sunsets.
Though a little nervous about how rough it could be out there?

Anyway, hope you manage to find acceptable accommodations, there or otherwise.

If there, I'm sighted in and packin in the dockbox to eliminate winged nuisances (as usual) that make chit and noise
You take care of the ones that bite.
Deal?

RaggedEdge 07-05-2014 06:08 PM

46 is one of Tuckeys offerings, along with several others little closer on the left side, all with chit fingers that are falling apart. Bonnie is full so might just do one for August, if that is possible, if not it can sit and get run off the trailer. The bridhouse deal is real interesting if the numbers I was told yesterday are right, still means a six figure investment to have a slip with no chit ball neighbors. I'm just too old to have to fock with this chit.

Done deal! If they chit they are yours, if they bite .......... Mr. Smith will smoke their azz!

5PMSMWHR 07-07-2014 11:33 PM

Ya know, I never really gave any thought to it but the whole Rippem and motor yacht guy dynamic should be interesting. Given the circumstances, I don't see why they're still in the boathouse. If I had little kids I definitely wouldn't be hanging down there. It's already documented that that dog should be put down. You go after one kid and you lose your doggy pass to live in my book.

now that's (in bold) damn square in my book coming from a dog guy.
and what's your feel Mike if it takes a chunk out of (your child) Mich?
That too is entirely possible, you have to walk by it now...

It will get a chance to snarl/snap at me first most likely, and that will bring things quickly to a head...I assure you

The ship has sailed on awareness all-around, and the opportunity to protect other people on the premises from a known danger.

Could easily get all ugly and litigious all-around as well if it harms anyone.
Why would certain parties risk it? I don't get it...

Rippem 07-08-2014 12:21 PM

"motor yacht" LOL

I didn't do it! I'm not involved! (yet...)

Yea!

5PMSMWHR 07-08-2014 06:49 PM

Back in our old neighborhood a Chow broke out of a screwed in ground stake and bit Kitty. We reported it to the police. Couple months later the f'er crashes through a screen door coming after me and the dog. It bit my dog puncturing his abdomen and I proceeded to kick the crap out of it with the female owner calling me every f related word in the dictionary. Chow was put down shortly after.

RaggedEdge 07-08-2014 07:01 PM

In that the jury has spoken on this matter brought before us, I believe it be my duty to ventilate the F'er.

Just how many holes would you like in the four legged sack of chit? Keeping in mind that after six I need to reload, that is an extra and will be charged out as such.

RaggedEdge 07-08-2014 07:09 PM

Far from it, just an old POS, bad and smelly chit diesel, with some chit owners that have little respect for anyone around them. Perhaps some attorney will educate all involved with this latest event. Next deal might be some child gets an eye put out by the anchor that is out over the dock, have no fear, Tuckey says that their insurance that will cove all.

Rippem 07-08-2014 10:03 PM

"ventilated" as in "step-bottom" doggie

my X mother in law had a chow/Sharpei (same f'kin thing in my book, fighting dogs) totally untrained, with an addiction to chewing on and sucking all the steroid cream out of her skin meds, they were all over the trailer...
anyway this f'ker used to come at me and after the first time I used to work boot this bastard literally NFL style right in the chops as it came in for the kill on my leg- barely slowed him down
I told the dumbass that it was a matter of time
not so much later after it tried to take the arm off the paperboy, it got put down

Rippem 07-09-2014 10:29 AM

The boat is ready to go (again). Took the pump off this time. Always had good luck R&Ring the front half only.
It's about the same amount of work to just take the damn things off, and there's no concern of loosing the O-ring location on the bench.
No matter which way you do it these SW pumps SUCK to work on.

Detailed out even better than last week. Now the weather is dumpy both today and in the week forecast 'cept for the 2 days I'm working!

Oh well, this year's effort never was about some epic boating season, it was just about getting wet again and taking the kids and a few others for rides they had been promised.

RaggedEdge 07-11-2014 09:24 PM

Oh well, might get the biotch wet tomorrow, assuming that things working out better than today. Had one trim indicator ram that was stuck and would not let go, couple hours worth of F'n with it and now it seems to be ok. Never had this chit before, hope tomorrow does not show some other odd chit. This boat has been a dream every year, dump it in the drink and it just runs perfect. Guess this is what one has to expect when your boating season starts mid July.

Rippem 07-13-2014 03:13 PM

damn dumpy weather> TC was gonna launch with me today as he's in that neck of the woods at the cottage and is hot on buying one (going out of state to look at one tomorrow), but alas- windy rainy dumpy
and the forecast for the week isn't much better, tomorrow only and of course later in the week the next 2-3 days I'm working!

not gonna launch it to have it sit there. I mean I want to prove it out after such a long layup, but there is plenty of time left for that, and maybe some boating too if this month straightens out and August or even September stands a chance...

so now without this one even wet, a potentially very keen deal has popped up on one of the hard to find family boats on my short list.
May be hitting the road with some cash myself, if I can get the party to answer the phone!
