Ok, so here's a good one. Did you ever ponder a thought several times and think: "This is a BAD Idea?"
But then after it's done, you say "Damn...That looks good!"
That's how this kinda went.....
Not a big fan of any modification that can't be put back to stock without a whole lot of messing around, so when my "Stereo Guy" tells me we got to cut a hole in the boat to install a properly sized sub woofer box....Well, holes and boats don't mix. So we compromised and here are the results.
1 - Remove the passenger bolster seat.
2 - Install an aluminum tool path template with 2 sided tape to the port gunwhale and cut a 17" x 15" hole.
3 - Take the piece of fiberglass to your local waterjet.
4 - Have your "Stereo Guy (Chris)" build a custom 2 piece 1.7 cubic ft ported woofer box.
5 - Assemble and install this box in the gunwhale...Real fun!

So you can kind of get the picture of what I had in mind, right? Re-use the fiberglass piece as a grill. So my "Water Jet Guy" cuts out the Bird...We install a strip of aluminum on each side of the hole after the box and sub are in (we used Nortons speed grip) and tap 6 holes for the mounting screws and done! A grill with Birdattude!

You'd be surprised how sturdy those feathers are. I thought the same thing before we cut it, it's like 1/4" thick!!
I did the design for the layout and several of the custom bezels, but the real credit goes to Steve Dunning at Innotech. He laid up the panels and cut the holes. You need to slightly modify each panel to ensure a perfect fit. Contact him at 314-432-1900, tell him I sent you!
