My observations.....

1) The 42 is a much more FUN boat. It is much smaller and is easier to play with. The 47 is cool in its own way, long and comfortable.. They are like a BMW 3-series compared a 7-series. Everything happens faster in the 42.
2) The balance of the 42 is unique. Put the hammers down and hold on tight. The boat is fine tuned, where the std 47 (3x525) is more tail heavy.
3) The cabin is ALOT bigger and better in the 47. Remember, this is a comfort vessel. The NEW 42s has the new cabin and they give a lot better impression than the earlier 42s.
4) Cockpit is huge on the 47, great for 8-10 persons if that is interesting.
5) The thrill of starting up the 3rd engine on wide open exhaus is unforgettable. Looks awesom at the marina...
6) You need a serious tow truck for the 47.
7) You get wet in the 47 also, the fact that the boat is so long, actually means that the cockpit is further back from the bow tip, giving the water more time to blow over you in the real heavy swells and strong side winds. I am talking from experience here!

I am sure you would love the 42 with 1075s. The boat is boring to run with 600s, 700s and No 6s would make it more fun for sure, but get the biggest power and run them not too hard, and I am sure they will work twice as long as Merc says...... Then you really have the best that money can buy (in my opinion).

Or the 47 with 3x700..... It is still the best looking Vee I know about. And it is something special every time I run it. Turns more heads than any 42 at the docks.

Buy one of each!!!!

Remember to post here when you have bought the new boat!
