I have offically been bitten by the faster is better bug. I have a 05' 38 Lightning w/525's that I have had for about six weeks and I want to go bigger and faster and I am looking for some feedback. I want to get either a 42 or 47 w/850's or 1075's. Does anyone know what the true speeds are on either of these boats with this power? I will be using the boat in the ocean off of atlantic city, NJ and would benefit from the added length of the 47 but like the higher speeds of the 42.
How many hours will I get out of either of these engines and what maintenance do they need? Is there any reliability discrepancy between these two engines?
Thanks for your help.

42 , 700's and 6's , just over 100.
42, 850's and 6's, 115- 118
42, 1075'S AND 6'S, 126- 130+
maintanance on the 700 is the best as for refreshens. how ever you saying you have the bug, and 6 weeks in your 38 , i would say thw 42 with 1075's.
only draw back is at about 60-70 hrs , top half and 100- 120 refresh. how ever the memories and feeling the adrenaline will send thru you will easily out way the cost.
not to summarize, but if you can dish out the coin for a 42/ 1075 boat, dont sweat the details.
