SCX 4's on a 35

Just ordered my imco scx4's from John Teague. thier going to send bottom's out next week to Craig Wilson for blueprinting. This will put my propshaft c/l about 1" above the bottom. Herring 5 blades. Be interesting to see what this does.

Nice! What year 35 is this going on? And what kind of power? Looking forward to your results!

KWright 02-24-2012 05:10 PM

It's a 2001 race hull. The motors are N/A 550 hp. With reg XR's and hydro p5x's it would run right at 90 @ 5500 rpm.

A.O. Razor 02-24-2012 05:21 PM

Are you going to run SSM style props on them or Bravo style?

KWright 02-24-2012 05:26 PM

SSM Herring wants to start out with a 17x30. Would like to turn the motors 6200 rpm.

Ok. Looks like you're shooting for 100+ mph with those Herings? Any motor upgrades?

Reggie Fountain 02-24-2012 06:43 PM

Should run great, sounds like a fun project.

mcprodesign 02-24-2012 07:03 PM

Thanks, Summer can't come quick enough.

HOT_RODN99 02-25-2012 01:18 AM

No it definitely can't!! Another month and we should be good to go at LOTO. So it might be a dumb question, but what's the difference between your 35 race hull and my 2001 35 lightning? Bottom differences, step size and location maybe?

ya that thing has been thru hell and back. they are 15x29,
Not sure if we can post price in this forum so I will pm you, I bought these new last June.

Reggie Fountain 02-29-2012 08:19 AM

The scx -4 drives you can't use the water pickups in the drives. There only for cooling of the drives. You have to run external pickups.

That's what I thought too. The one at the show had the water neck on the inside of the transom, I asked Imco about it and they said it was for engine cooling. I will double check today when they open.

I had to rebuild a upper..So my drive guy put that upper lower together/ done. Just have to switch the other lower. Splash plates should be here tomorow. Working 7 day's a week for 2 more weeks then I will test it. I think 2-4 mph to start w the same props. But I want to spin 34's eventually

Sorry to jack up the tread :D

Look sweet. After you put a few runs on them let me know if you see small pits in the skeg. I have some appearing. Porosity? Cavitation?
Thanks

1 MAIDEN AMERICA 03-27-2012 04:45 PM

BTW IMCO told me to cap the water outlet on the inner transom plate and toss the outer hose.

I think you and me have about the same x dim. I have a side by side 2000 race boat too. I think you will be between 1 and 2 inches above the bottom w -4s, probly running a dry propshaft. ( unlewss they raise your motors ) I'm Sure Reggie will make your boat fly! Congrats

I think it will end up 2.5 in above if I measured it right. Yes looking forward to having them dial it in.

wcmarine 04-09-2012 09:58 AM

Looks like Imco have them up alongside some standard sets to compare :)
