Dave , Wife Three Asian, I could toss her a fish by the time I got out of the shower it was on my Plate.

She brought my food to me on a gold plated tray aside from being a world class cook. I could not mess that deal up.

Thank you. I almost fainted when I saw it at the Dallas Impound. They cut all three fuel tanks out of it. They cut down to the bottom of the sponsons and a huge hole out of the foredeck for that tank. They cut the bow off three feet back.

I wish there had been someone of your skill here, maybe it could have been saved...

The first time i saw that pic is when i really started looking deeper at Airex and what you were saying. Yes a standard marine cross linked foam has very little formability and would have snapped after only a few degrees. That pics an eye opener. I really need to check this stuff out closer.

when you put that kind of bend in it how well does it relax into is new form? Is heat required?

love the rafter jig

LOL that was one of those "think quick deals" with that material the cells will deform @80% before rupture.

I got it in place then put a bunch of #14 self tappers in it from the back side,Coming up the tunnel were I had the recovery built into it the panel edges needed recut straight,so I marked it in place removed the sheet and cut it to the line and pressed it back in the jig,This was all part of the reason I used that southern yellow pine for battens.tough stuff. 1" material 3/4 Batten = 2" screw with a 1/4" plywood washer.

see that was the other thing that was throwing me off. I didnt realize Airex could hold a screw enough for that, amazing. I have been trying to wrap my brain around some of your methods for a while now and it wasnt until you started detailing things and posying pics that i started to look at the process further, then the little light bulb in my head went off. I was still thinking about conventional materials, materials I'm use to in the repair side of it. Not much of that stuff really applies here when you are talking uni's, dynamic foam, lofting moldless, etc . . . .

I can see this is a meticulous process and each step relys on the one before it. Every detail has to be thoroughly thought out from start to finish, much of it before the first tool is picked up.

With the screws the #14 offered dramatic holding power over a 10 or 12 . Now for the processes the Boat was drawn traditionally in 1" scale then lofted full size,it was mine then, right to the pencil line.

I have seen people scale off a 1/4" to the foot plans ,the line on the drawing is like 2" in reality.

take the time and loft it full size.

Then the experts come by and say get the mylar guy! Ok, but what if the owner wants a change?

Walk over to the loft and use a different color pencil is all to make the change.

you make a mistake on step one and find it at step 6 !!! Ouch!!

The old man I worked with drove that into my head big time ,super smart guy his designed load water lines on drawings the modern computers line was no different.

Anyway there was this boat company ,A cuban guy owned it Bad dude ,anyway he started yelling at the old man saying he screwed up on the drawings OK!! The cloud smiles and walks over takes the plans out of his hands and points out where he screwed up placing the very first line the FIRST mark no less !!! Now the jig was all set and epoxied in place he said all was sledge hammers and yelling after that as he walked out.
