I believe the boat is a little over 28', 30' with the bussle.

IMO the 29 is ugly....it does not look like a outerlimits should look imo, it looks like a classic flat deck Donzi.....to small overall, very plain cockpit....the step hull looks like a rinker or something off of a family boat, does not follow the normal lines of a outerlimits step hull. So if the "normal" style step hull is so fast and amazing, why screw with the design? just not impressive. BTW, I am a HUGE outerlimits fan, and respect their boats and would be proud to own one. But personally was more impressed with the Hustler 29 rockit in person!

If this thing can do 90 w/ a 525 those steps are magic! The fastest 26 foot cats w/ a 25 do 96 I think (RPM and Noric), so 90 out of a 29 (actual running surface I believe I read, over 30 w/ bustle) V would be haulin ass!
My very light straight bottom 28 w/ no amenities could probably just go over 70 w/ the perfect prop on my 500 hp:evilb:. Rides great though, so I wonder how this OL does in the rough but I'm sure it's impressive. Biggest disadvantage to a single of this size is docking. Mine is tall enough it's like giant sail on a windy day with no way to to turn it. |

Is that platform extension off the back included in the measurement ? If so its really about a 27' boat.

I am a huge fan of big singles. My favorite in recent years is the tuff28. I like the lines of the new OL.
Not impressed with the color or interior materials in the one at the show, but if I were in the market today, I would take a hard look at the OL29. Texoma said something about plagued with drive issues. Not true at all. I have a 26 V with a 600sci and an XR, and have had no issues whatsoever. In the 25-29' range I'd prefer a single over twins any day of the week. Better balance, better fuel economy, easier to trailer, half the maintenance and less expensive -which keeps boating easy fun. |
I am also a fan of sit-down bigger singles but this boat just doesn't do it for me. Transom looks "cheesy" for lack of a better word and the interior really looks dated. Gel and paint combo not thought out. Flat black mixed with gloss black? I expected more from OL and if I was in the market I would look elsewhere. Just my point-o-two.

Well IMO too many other offerings that look better,(subjective) are somewhat user friendly, and available at a REASONABLE price that will run close to that in speed. I don't find it appealing at all from the cheesy looking interior to the WTH is that engine hatch. Usually a fan of their styling but not even remotely so here.
Only people I see buying this boat is someone with a stable of boats, that wants something to just zip around in with Outerlimits on the side painted on it. Not sure what market they are looking at but I don't know of one. |
would love to see it in another color combo
