I'm gonna try. Thinking some hefty small blocks. Why I wanna see Diego's dyno numbers. Bravo conversion maybe with -2s. Then have props done by bblades.

The ideal conditions will be in salt water, calm wind with a 2' chop...2 aboard for balance.

Occupants WILL HAVE flotation vests and the kill lanyard will be functional and in use.

I think we may see this theory put to the test with a certain '89 272 SR1 after the Holidays...We may also see it put to the test in a certain 255 Liberator about the same time.
Another secret,

There is a chance we might have another 272 sr1 running 400+ hp soon...

Just a reminder to everyone waiting to see dyno results,

This is what "formula 382 sr1"(this is his user name ) achieved with a very similar set up just FYI and installed this on a 272 sr1 achieving a top end of 69 mph don't remember at what rpm's

"We used about the same bottom end. The top end we used world sportsman heads 202 vavles 200 cc runners Bullet cam grind #CHS288/296-10HR part #501000 spec 223/231 @.050 lift .530/.548 110 separation same intake edelbrock 750 cfm carb 425hp @ 5700 rpm stainless Marine exhaust with long risers. I dont remember the Tq. Hope this helps "

One diff. is that I switched to Holley double pampers 750 cmf now and my specs are :

Eagle rotating assembly*
Steel crankshaft*
Edelbrock alum Performer cylinder heads 70 cc*
Performer air gap intake
PRW 1.5 alum roller rockers
Stainless marine "hi torque" exhaust w custom risers
Hydraulic roller*
LSA 112
Duration .50 222/228
valve lift .532/.524*

Let me make sure I understand this.

A roughly 28 ft boat (give or take a swimstep) with "about" 850 HP runs 69MPH?

How much fuel does it carry, and what does it weigh?

27'-2" center line bow to stern exclusive of platform. Beam is 96"...24* dead rise 5750 # dry with twin SBC's. Fuel capacity is 130 gals, Water is 25 gals. I always figure average loaded weight at 6500 #.

Tommy,,the guy that passed and his wife sold his 311 sr1(the tramp) black and white in the formula section..anyways tommy use to have a white and yelow 272 that he bought with 350 mags and alpha drives..that boat with a higher x dimention which he ordered it 2'' higher ran 70 mph back in the day..then he has a pair of 406's built for it..the boat ran 80 mph but he had problems with the drives blowing up..went that route for a few years and traded in the boat for his 311..
