Just wanted to say

Keep it going! Good thread hijack!! I'm a A$$HOLE so not sure if I should give my opinion on this! I have bought brand new American and Foreign cars and both suck. Mechanical sh!t breaks no matter who builds it. But I only owned 1 Foreign and that broke down more than my American cars.

Are you really this dumb? What trucks are bulit in the GM Flint, and Ft Wayne plants then? Get a clue.

Again, Toyota employees 1/3 the employees of GM in the US, to sell 95% of the volume. Then geniuses post BS like this like there is a shred of truth to it. Pathetic.

Wouldn't it be easier if we just bought what was the best value for US, the BUYER??

Maybe everyone in the US needs to sit down in a 12 hr seminar hosted by UAW officials spreading the propaganda you preach, then we would all buy from UAW and the world would be a better place?

Or, they could just improve the quality (which they are NOW doing) and give us better value cars and trucks, and win the market back the real AMERICAN way.

I never said I won't buy from the big three again, but right now I am extremely happy with my Texas built HD 1/2 ton truck. Chevy is making a real come back, and it shows in the lastest customer satisfaction and repair reports. They also make the best looking truck IMO. I hear they also solved the tricky intake gasket leak problem, that only took 12 years to fix
Again, you can not read. I am far from UAW, which should be evident by everything I have presented. You are attempting a straw man, and poorly doing it. I don't care about union, I care about helping the US.

So because you buy a car you are an expert, but because I buy a plane ticket I'm not an expert on flight? Gee, right, you should be CEO of Toyota you know so much.

You have yet to read anything I've posted, or links I've provided and give a single comment in rebutal. You just go back to implying I'm some UAW guy, because in itself that's so degrading huh? Right, my writing and points definitely indicate I am a blue-collar guy with no education and pro union.

It's hilarious you say propaganda when I have provided employment data and other facts, and you've provided anecdotal evidence of how superior something is because your 1990 something had a problem. You've then wrapped a foreign product in the American flag with no basis and accuse us of "UAW propaganda" despite clear posts stating they are overpaid in most cases? Try reading, then posting a coherent reply to the facts posted, not just calling everyone a UAW guy who actually knows what they are talking about.

I will add to my post. Born and raised in the Detroit area. Got one uncle that was UAW and would not talk to me after I bought that new Honda back in 1998. Well that Honda sucked just as much as every vehicle I have owned. Sh!T breaks if you use it! But Honda really sucked a$$. My uncle said he could get me a new Mercury Sable back then 1998 for 23k loaded. I told him no after getting the Sunday paper (this is before I had a computer) and I got a Honda Accord supposedly loaded for 20K. Well that Accord was a POS! and the main reason it was cheaper than the Sable was because it did not have ABS BRAKES! I did no know that Honda did not have ABS BRAKES until the first time I had a panic stop in that car!

Ever heard of the former GM / Toyota joint venture in California called NUMMI? You might want to talk to the GM (union) employees who went to Japan to learn Toyota production techniques. They went in every bit as hard a--ed as you. They came back with nothing but admiration for the Japanese. GM learned a ton from Toyota in the venture and uses Toyota production methods in every single one of their factories - as does Ford and Chrysler. When GM went bankrupt, the joint venture was dissolved.

And BTW, building 95% of the volume with less people is called a "productivity advantage" in business terms. Taking more people to build the same number of vehicles is not something any businessman would be proud of.

hmmmm ... Non-Union Toyota employees are 3x more productive than UAW/GM employees?

and/or ... UAW/GM are 3x more wasteful/featherbedded than Toy?

and/or ... (C)

That sounds about right.

Me? I drive a pre-industrial Rover with an Italian Diesel Engine, a Tata Jaguar and a Vauxhall roller-skate size station wagon that is not powerful enough to pull the hat off your head, but is ... Green.
