I agree, its the same as Outerlimits claiming a 39 Quatro runs high 90's with 525's when it is really a 90mph boat..

Your right, The 36 outlaw with 490 HP did 81 on the Powerboat test and the 37 AT with 470 HP did 80.6 according to Powerboat testing. So given the 40 additional hp the AT is faster by aprox. 3-4 mph. What was I thinking trying to compare these two boats. So yea its a regular rocket by comparison. Keep drinking the Kool Aid from your Cult leader.

1999; 15 years ago. (Funny how I guessed that above.)
I am pretty sure that was this boat in the test:

Notice it is a straight bottom; before the DDC was introduced.

Fastest pleasure boat 500EFI 37 AT with the DDC step bottom that I can remember is the one that can be bought right now; in Michigan. It was for sale in the fall. It has 500EFIs and Stellings boxes and ran 88MPH when dialed in.
Clark aka crb76's 37 AT (also with DDC) with 525EFI and XRs was Stealin' Thunder which sold last year. He dialed it into 90.
Diggin' Thunder which is for sale in the OSO classifieds right now reportedly ran 91; but I have not see it with my own eyes.
Carry on with this debate. It's fun; but if logic and facts are not considered and appreciated, I don't know what is.

I believe this figure is off. See my above post.
Numbers have been confused with different engines.
500EFIs and 525EFIs do not perform the same in any boat.

1-teens with 1200s and VI drives on the 37AT; in race trim.
I don't believe said package was ever put in a 36OL (OutLaw, or OuterLimits).
There was a 36 Baja Outlaw many years ago with 900SCs and VI drives. It was owned by a Baja and Sonic dealer in Virginia.
If my memory serves correctly, it was in the low-mid 90s. 45sonic here on OSO would know for sure as he serviced the boat back in the day.
I can't believe it's almost Miami Boat Show time! It seems like I was carving turkey on Thursday of last week. This stuff makes winter go by fast! We end up talking more BS about boats than we do when we're riding them in the summer!

I honestly don't know all that much about the 39 Quatro numbers, but I would think with their epoxy layup and more slippery bottom that they should be more than a few mph faster that an equally powered 37AT, no? 5-10 mph faster? IDK...

What makes a bottom more slippery? Speedkote? http://www.cpperformance.com/p-14042...tom-paint.aspx
I want my next boat to have Speedkote misters built right into the bottom if so!

Three 37 AT owners I spoke with all said they were an honest 82-84 mph boat, but I've heard mid to high 80's over and over here. High 80's sounds very possible with a light load, ideal conditions, and well dialed in props.
