Maybe it depends on the type of boating you do If every day ends with you back at your home dock or back on the trailer then yes a cabin probably doesn't make sense. Sometimes a cabin would be nice! Our cat doesn't have a cabin and some of the boating events we do end up with people rafted up in coves or you end up staying overnight at some water bar's dock due to drinking. A cabin there makes all the sense in the world. I don't mind occasionally sleeping under the starts on one of the front couches (Have done it more than once) but my WIFE isn't to keen on the idea for a regular basis type thing

If dreaming; go ahead and dream about both.
Keep the AT at home where the wife is.
Keep the OL at the "South Florida Office" where the rentals are.

I agree to a certain extent, but in 10 years this boat may sell to someone that can't afford(or simply doesn't want to) stay in a hotel. I have quite a few friends that sleep on their boats in a slip almost every weekend. So, when they are buying a used boat the cabin is very important. Which, in turn, means the boat with the better cabin will usually have better resale.

The three big companies all gave customers the option of this a few years back they were:

Donzi 38 ZRC and 38 ZR

Cig 36 gladiator and 38 top gun

Outerlimits 42 legacy vs GTX

From what I have seen the cabin boats bring anywhere from 10% to 30% more on the market. Using $100K for example this could be a $10K to $30K difference. That could buy a lot of hotel rooms........

I understand where everyone is coming from but my comments have to do with NEW boat sales not used. A used buyer for sure will enjoy sleeping on the boat. We spent years sleeping on multiple different (some cramped) Offshore boats. Now we have a cruiser we pretty much live on all summer. We love being on the water and staying on the boat. Just the fact is not many people with 350K to buy a Offshore Powerboat really use the cabin. The point of a Go Fast boat is to GO FAST! If you want a cabin buy a cruiser. Please don't confuse this with the used boat market. Obviously my statements are true or all the boat manufactures would be building new boats with luxurious cabins. Black Thunder would be the TOP company. CC would have focus on larger nicer cabins. And speaking of the wife, she doesn't want a go fast boat anyways!
I am lucky to have one that is begging for a fast cat next. All the women really need is a bathroom of some sort.

I am super glad to see AT continue to make nice boats. Its great to also see the support they have on here. IMO their support is just like Black Thunders support. Used market buyers dreaming of new boats but actually can only afford used boats. Nothing wrong with that. But the sales of OL are proof that NEW boat buyers WANT TO GO FAST. If they don't then sales of CC prove and sales of cruisers still being high prove that.

Unfortunately the days of People getting over financed to pinch pennys on a Go Fast boat, sleeping on it, and only being able to go 10 feet from the boat ramp to the sand bar are left for the used boat market.....

If cabin boats are what kept companies afloat, OL would still be making cabin boats like the 37 Stiletto and the 42 Legacy. The 37 OL has just as nice or nicer of a cabin than the 37 AT. If that's what NEW boat buyers are looking for OL would still be making it.

It would be nice if AT comes out with a new designed 42' staggered surface drive 700+HP boat to compete with the big dogs. After that, a freshen of the 37'. They are doing a good job on freshening the smaller boats though.

I see where you are coming from Kev, and I agree to a point. However, Outerlimits still makes a damn nice cabin...like that in the 52...and that thing goes like HELL. The big difference you will see between the two manufacturers comes right where power is concerned. Pat will build you what you want, but he prefers Mercury options, and right now, is building boats that he feels fit his own niche in the market. The 37 can be built to spec....if you want big power and 6s, it can be done...but the boats he is building now aren't necessarily after the same type of buyer as OL.

In support of your point...my boat was never slept on until we bought it....even with the full scope of cabin amenities. But, like 302Sportie said...it was built with resale in mind...

Purely from a cosmetic point i don't like either boat. Never liked having the brand name in large letters along the hull side or top deck. A simple logo at the stern is enough.

FWIW, the gold lettering on the AT is all vinyl. It was just put on there for the photo shoot on FPC's magazine. Since it's a factory kept demo; it's a (red) blank canvas for a new owner.
