I grew up with boats my parents always had one the my dad had was an early 60 imperial with twin mercs it was the fastest boat on the river back in its day went on to a few ski boats and now dad has a Grady White. My first boat when I finished college was a brand new 89 four winns liberator I had the only boat around with a 350mag and thru-hull exhaust big block boats were unheard of around here. Drove it for 10 years and sold it even ran it all around Stone Harbor NJ several times. Now I have a Wellcraft Nova spyder and I am looking to move up again.

1st boat: 12 inch plastic boat for the tub when I was 1.
1 st real boat ride was on my grandfather's 1974ish 17 foot Crestliner (baby blue)
Several boat rides on my uncle's 25 Wellcraft Nova and 28 Baja when growing up.
I finally talked my Dad into buying a boat and he bought a new 1986 Four Winns 195 Horizon cuddy. I worked on him for years to upgrade and he just gave me the Four Winns which I sold to buy my 1995 Powerquest 270 Laser in 2000.
I hope to someday own a 38 - 42 foot 80+ boat.

1980 18' Donzi classic with a 260 hp 350. Pulled motor that winter (82) and added roughly 50 hp along with Stainless Marine manifolds. Still have original receipt. Those were the days on the West/South/Rhode River and Bay in MD! Current boat 22' classic since 1995. And yes... I lurk on Donzi.net daily also. Great site Steve..Thanks.

My first purchase on my own was a 16 ft Checkmate with a 115 merc outboard skiboat. I was 14 years old and put more gas in that boat than i totaled in cars for my first 10 years of driving probably. paid $2300 for it and that was a lot of lawns to mow back then at $8 and $10. Probably 12 boats later I just sold my 2002 donzi 38zx and I am shopping for #14.
