I'm in agreeance with selling everything and living in a bubble. This thread is out of control with others trying to tell people how to live a life or raise a kid. Let it go people. Guess what it sucks to say but we all will die. The day we are born we start dying. Might as well enjoy it while ya got it!! Still more people die in cars and I'm sure y'all drive and drive your kids places.
Wow. Ok. Now for skanks |
This seems like a good time. Fountain is better than any other boat.

So many arguements much more valid and interesting than this one |

A. Your kid drowns In a boating accident. Your life is ruined, and your marriage is most likely over. You can remain in a state of depression for your remaining years, always wondering why you didn't use life jackets, and how you killed your kid. B. You drown in a boating accident, and your kid lives. Your kid's life is ruined by not having a father or mother to raise him/her, and they are angry at you for dying. With every life milestone, graduations, marriage, birth of children, they are reminded that they are missing a parent. It always cracks me up a bit when people get their shorts in a bunch when their "freedoms" are trespassed on while living in the most regulated and law heavy countries on the planet. This friggin place is going to have to make laws about laws soon the way we're going. |

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ihN6dNUP5Sc It all happens in a split second. In a car, you often have more warning, the tires are squeeling, car is sliding, but a boat, one second everything is great, and next second you are out of the boat. Michael |

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1UEETjztLqI Michael by the way ..all I see is one adult wearing a safety vest exceeding the Boats limitations..no kids involved so what's your point? let's see what you come up with next have fun looking |
Adults can make their own decisions but i personally wouldn't let anyone stand between the seats and probably wouldn't let my kids run without a life jacket at those speeds.
I don't mind if my kids don't wear a jacket at idle, but they are going to wear one on plane for a few more years and i barely do more than about 50 |

we can all pretty much pick apart any video posted on here, whether its boat related, towing, packing bearings, safety straps, chicks pole dancing, well maybe not that,,lol we have all done stupid $hit over the years,do not tell me you have not done something and latter on think to yourself man that was stupid WTF was I thinking,,I know I have.. I get safety,I have owned a boat way before I had kids, when we had kids the first thing my wife did when they reach the right age is take them to swim lessons, safety jackets? yes all the time while on the boat, could not walk on the pier unless safety jackets were on,and to make it sound cool so they would wear them we called them boat coats, safety is important ,I get it do people sometimes loose their mind and act stupid ?yes..and even safety jackets cant help them at times. the 1st think that would happen with those cheap $10.00 orange jackets at faster speeds that most people have would be to rip off your body,,so at times they could be a false sense of security,so why dont we start a thread and talk about the correct life jackets,,like lf we are going to run hard we should all put on our Lifelines, the guy at the original video was out with his family having fun,,not acting like a jerk, so please stick to the original thread,or I suppose we could spent hours on youtube and post every video of every jack a$$ out there driving a boat. |

The guy in the port bolster looks like the only one not having fun. It's a great video. The kid's smile is priceless. So when will it warm up so that we can go back to asking about how to fix stuff? :) (btw, all those old videos have already been posted and discussed)
Here's another dangerous situation. She could easily slide into the water and bang her head. Nope. Should be properly seated in the boat with a life vest on :) : http://i763.photobucket.com/albums/x...s467Medium.jpg |
I've got a great picture of someone teaching about 15 of us how to do the line dance to Copperhead Road on the bow of my boat right as the evening dew started falling. Talk about dangerous.....
The two injuries I've had on our boat was a buddy of mine walked up ran into the prop right after I had them redone and got 21 stitches in his knee (we were just anchored out, and i had just warned him that the props were sharp) and then one night my wife went to lasso the front piling, slipped and instinctively grabbed the piling and slid down it like a fireman. She was bloody head to toe after those barnacles tore her up. |

I really do not understand the motivation of some of the people here who defend this guy again and again. I can only surmise that they either know him personally, or engage in this risky behavior repeatedly themselves. Who cares if he is out having a fun time with his family? We can see that. However, this is no 25 mph cruise around the bay. Judging from the rooster tail, he going well over 60, probably more like 80 or 90.
What happens when people like this do have an accident? The chorus of safety nuts come out in full force, demanding speed limits, horsepower limits, boat size limits, noise limits, and every other limit. All it takes is a bogus public comment period, and a few signatures by local, county or state politicians. Good luck getting those restrictions rescinded. Once it's done, it's done. I have to drive hours and hours now to even get to a lake without a speed limit. The nearest one, hours away, is dried up most of the time. This adolescent attitude of "Nobody is going to tell me what to do", and then having no responsibility, is not going fly. If you want to keep your freedoms, and this high performance boat hobby going, people have to act responsibly. The other adolescent attitude of "It'll never happen to me or anyone in my boat" needs a reality check. 13% of all recreational boating accidents in 2012 resulted in a fatality. If a performance boat is involved, I bet it is a lot higher than that. So argue away if you want, but the people who are defending and engaging in this bad behavior are not doing the hobby any good, and are pushing it to its demise. PFDs and people sitting properly in a boat go a long ways toward showing the public that performance boaters care about safety, in contrast, to the current image of recklessness. Michael |

Michael I would do the same. The kid up front is holding on. Sorry many of y'all are to the point of seatbelts in a boat. I'm not. Different situations call for different measures. At idle I let people sit on the hatch. On plane no. See different situation different rule. Calm weather and a nice little blast no biggie. Running amongst others when it's rough at speed different situation. You boat how you want ill boat and defend others how I want. Now chill out |

I have never met this man and I have no problem with what he did. It's situational boating. It was calm. He might hit a decent speed but didn't maintain it. It was not a poker run. Oh yeah live coastal and run offshore no speed or noise laws there.

If there is a law, you lose the freedom to choose, no matter what the situation. If the public wants to ban performance boats, offshore or not, they just set laws or just tax them out of existence. All it took was a 10% luxury tax passed by Congress in the early 90's that put over 100 boat builders and related companies out of business. Did you know in Sausalito, CA, it is illegal to launch a personal watercraft from anywhere in the city, including boat ramps? If the government wants to ban performance boats, it will happen. Speaking of jarts does anyone have a set they want to sell? |

Oh yeah a bunch of idiots posting on a YouTube video who many most likely don't even own a boat. Yes I forgot. They are all geniuses. Sorry I'm not a pansy ass. Wasn't born that way or raised that way. So enjoy your fear of everything and hope your bubble you should live in arrives soon. The rest of us with at least half a brain and half a nut sack will continue to drink beer (oh no we are alcoholics and may die of cirrhosis of the liver), driving (oh no someone could crash into me and kill me), riding my motorcycle without a helmet(omg hope you didn't just have a heart attack!!).
Got it! It's all about being macho! Hopefully, you won't trip over your gold chains, or, worse, they get caught in the prop. :D :D Michael |
