Near as I can tell, those are bone stock 454s. Where are the other 800HP coming from?

Thanks. Brad.

Creative marketing 😂

Boat is in Sarasota.
Closer you get to Miami, the higher the BS meter will read!

Every time I see a fine Formula 233 I get transfixed. Peter Rothschild & Larry 'eventually Scarab' Smith, and their engine guru Chuck Daigh were tough to beat in their boat Thunderballs. It had a Ford 427 Holman Moody engine that Chuck put a blower on. Cary's 233 is done exactly like I would dream of doing a restomod 233. Amazing boat!

Got a nice elderly gentleman, Larry, who restored his 1968 Formula 233 about ten years ago. 5 large stringers, Armstrong bracket, 250 Yamaha, 50 mph. Larry is in his low '80s, but goes through the big afternoon swells like he's racing.

Edit..... No it's not. For some reason my Craiglist app ended up centered on Franklin, OH, not more than 10min from the house, but that's not where the boat in this post is. My bad....

Thanks. Brad.

Wildman,

A 900HP V-drive, sitting on a single axle trailer. Wrap your head around that for a sec....

Thanks. Brad.

Really like the rear seat system that drops down. Makes more room, and easier access to the engines room.

For some reason I enjoy reads of the descriptions when they are non-conforming to your typical ad. Kudos to the lister.

Burt Reynolds boat!

Or not!

I can only imagine the CSI Miami crew going through this boat (in Key West) w/their black lights looking for seaman stains!

The whole boat would glow!

Cant quite see Burt ever holding up here.

Oh man, I can't believe that boat looked good enough to buy in the 80's, much less now.

Twin O/B Sonic 08-22-2023 04:56 PM

A Keys “live aboard” for sure.

Used to see it in Fla all the time.

Think of people that live under bridges………, now put them in Fla.

They know somebody that knows somebody that has a fixer upper for sale.

They end up with it for free, think they’ll live on it for a yr then sell their “classic cruiser” for $30k and go buy a months worth of crack.

50% of them sink after the first turd floater rain since they have no batteries/power and the other 50% struggle through that for the first yr then list it for $30k.

When we were in Sebastian, literally, I watched a 70 year old, wood cabin cruiser get towed past our favorite tiki bar, behind a center console with a guy on the bow of the old write it out wood boat.

I knew where he was going and that was a very popular island in the middle of the intercoastal.

They like it because it was close enough to dinghy in to shore to get supplies and/or work for a couple of days a week.

Sure enough that’s what they did and I saw it them anchored off of that island for a month or two before it showed up on craigslist for sale!

The bum that owned it then figured out he had no clue what he was doing, abandoned it, moved out, Next turd floater rain came, boat sank where it set off the barrier island a half a mile offshore from where we lived and it rotted away.

Boat was a 72.............so more "Deliverance" than Smokey and the Bandit but the "Screaming Chicken" bed spread is interesting.

The county is cracking down on the derelict vessels......its easier to tow away a floating boat than trying to re-float one.

Peanut Island has 5-50 million dollar homes around it and the derelict boats are there by the dozen. Nobody pumps out so the water quality is regularly flagged as un-swimmable. Usually a hurricane or tropical storm sinks 1/3 of the derelict fleet but soon after the storm clears some more junk appears.

I have always said if these people didn't have a derelict boat to sleep on with their 2-3 dogs they would be sleeping in a cardboard box under a bridge . Years ago my girlfriend and I crept through the cut between Stock island and Key West at sunset in our 19 foot Nouverani inflatable. Definitely felt like we strolled into the wrong neighbor hood with all eyes on us . Half the boats were sitting sunk in 3 feet of water with people living on them .
