It seems the market for the 370 and 40SS would be guys like me coming from a powerboat. What`s with the grandpa gauges and 1990`s Cadillac fake wood trim. ?
.

Such a turn off.

So you buy the boat running and put the motors and gears on Ebay.
Measure the stringers. I bet their on common centers for gas
Build some motors and trannies and rerig motor mounts. Run some semi stock exhaust under the water line, maybe some mufflers..cap the old exhaust
Buy new gauges and a wiring harness , redo the dash and cables .
I mean it will take a full rerig, but it's not a damn racing boat and that old Fountain is probably due for it anyways.
Hopefully when you pull everything out you don't find the typical wet transom and stringers and rotted tank.
It's just a Fountain , your not going to impress anyone with it.

I do agree with you about the panels. But If you can find a boat that you like, for the price you like those 5 panels certainly would not be a deal breaker. Knock off an extra $250 to get replaced.

True . But lots of big block boats with transomes beiing parted out in the swap shop. Also i cant imaging 2 plus hour trips in my fountain . Its a fun go fast boat prefect for what i do. But every hour is wearing somthing in a hp boat. This guy needs a fast cruiser with power you can put 500 hours on . So a 500 efi boat that cruises 50 or so is what he needs. Too bad they don't offer the 8.3 cummins i have in my mottor home. It is pre 1995 and has no computor. Pretty much all mechanical. Pushes a 22,000 pound motor home at 7 mpg in the mountains on the trip to havasu. Gets just about 7 with 10,000 plus pounds of boat behind it . Could you imagine what it would take for gas to do this? 2 8.3 300's would do it . A lot of weight but how much does 3 motors weight ??
