Ian did a number of the gulf foresure but do not doubt this current group of clowns will do anything possible to significantly control peoples rights and/or freedoms. Boats are on there respective $hit list. They are petrolium based & manufactured and they burn gas in unacceptible levels of fossile fuel. With Ian they got a 2 for 1, they can put a burr in the arse to the state of Florida and its people and don't doubt there will be another Federal mandiate limiting boat travel and the ability to re-build. The Biden Administration would love to cut fedral funds from the state for non-compliance !!!

They announced on the news last night that if you are found boating by the Coast Guard near Sanibel Island without a licensed captain that you can be fined up to 60K. I would like to see that tried in court.

Coast Guard opens temporary hub, warns against recreational boating (winknews.com)

Like obummer said…. elections have consequences.
I dislike politics as much as anyone, I just want to be left alone. But throughout history bigger government has always lead to reduced freedom.

And now this, on this side there are still places flooded by Ian, last thing they need is days of rain. Beach erosion is also a huge issue.

I had a house on the beach in Ormond By the Sea for years. They are NOT S FL hurricane prepped/built in that area. John Anderson Drive floods in a 10 minute rain storm or just about any high tide. I looked at an old house years ago on John Anderson and it was close to high tide, the water in the Halifax seemed like it was eye level with me standing in the yard.

They are saying if the chartered boat doesn't have a licensed captain, then it is a fine. They aren't saying they will fine anyone without a captain.
